Ecitb scaffs tkt

Podger agree with every thing you say, as for the C.I.T.B they must take all the blame. NVQs portfolios photos does that make you a scaffolder dont think so, in my opinion the only way to learn is put them with guys who have been in the game a lot of years & have the knowledge to teach them properly.Sadly i think its to late.
 
After reading through these posts I have got be honest in this day and age I cannot believe the ignorance of some people here.

I have been in the game 25 years I have worked on most sites in this country, I have worked off shore and on the town and I got my card through the CITB, which is now the CISRS Scheme. For me to achieve this I depended on the older boys in the game to show me the way. The frustrating thing is that while I had to do my training lads where getting these ECITB cards when they had never put a set of spanners on in their life because they knew people in the game who could sign these forms for them. In my opinion it's about time that this card system caught up with them. If they followed the correct route (and if you are in our game you know what the correct rout is) so less of the ********.

Fair play to the guy who has come on here to help you out, cause you have had long enough to sort this and again none of this ******** about being in classrooms or having to erect jobs in a centre cause some of us 20 year plus guys have been there and done it to get where we are!

with some people mite have been true but with others mite have been information they were given to go down this route, everyone circumstances r different if you were on 1 power station for nearly 9 years and had worked for 5 firms in that time and as a labourer who was scaffolding doing hangers and doing entrys on a nuclear site on labourers money for the first 3 years until i manage to get my grade 4 ecitb tkt from an advanced citb scaff that did it for me cause the companys couldn be bothered in them days, so when i got my card i got my rate and have woked as an industrial scaffolder since, 5 years ago got a supervisor to get me my grade 5. if you read all the 263 replys u will know the rest of it. Al l im asking is for some sort of a assessment preferbley out on site and see your competent and still do a question paper. As for you seeming to take pleasure in that its caught up with people, moderate this shove it up your arse from someone who cant get work and that hasnt nothing to do with my ignorance if youve not been told about things its called not informed about it not ignorance. people like u make me sick have a nice life.

No one is saying the CISRS is wrong its just run poorly!

Assess the guys at the level they are at.

Its not rocket science if they are no good then send them in with the thick ones. Jezz my kin head hurts.

Supervisor and advance getting cards for you again laughable.


Doing jobs without a card, well sunshine how many qualified scaffs got finished on your site while you stayed there erecting jobs when not qualified to do so (prior to you getting your ECITB card that is)


Get over it, stop moan and get to a training centre if your all as good as you say you are then should be a walk in the park.. And an easy 2 weeks .

I totally agree with you mate. I have only followed this thread with limited interest, as I have never met or worked with anyone with an ECITB card for about 10 years! I couldn't believe they still existed.

Move with the times people - These tickets went out with the dinasours!

Maybe the best way to solve this would be for the CISRS to insist on every single scaffolder to attend a trade test. The CISRS could charge a grand for this, give half to the NASC and then everyone who passes can pay 50 quid to get a CISRS card after paying 35 quid to take a hse test.Or have they already done that before????
 
What is going on here!!!! Scaffolders slagging Scaffolders.... I know it happens, and it will always happen, however CISRS Scaffolders ( Or are they????) Slagging off ECITB guys, with years experience. FFS guys, why fight amongst ourselves?

In this current economic climate, where we are all still suffering the effects of the 'Recession' why feed the Non registered Forum viewers, ( you' know who i mean) any 'food for thought', regarding disharmonisation within the Scaffolding fraternity, especially when we still have non carded EU workers erecting Scaffolding. Will there 'Livliehood' be removed also, i think not. The European Commision for Human Rights springs to mind.

When the old CITB was getting 'phased out' i only heard about the CISRS on the 'Grapevine' by a scaff who new a scaff whos brothers sister 6 times removed had access to the WWW and a thing called a Computer.

Us older guys never ever had IT at school it was Woodwork or Metalwork. The only information gained was from TV and the Media. How many Bosses used to relay to there workforce any new Legislation:eek:

Lads...Scaffolders foremost, Let the training and Assessments be Categorised, Traing for the new upper coming Scaffs and Assessments for the Experienced.

We must stand together in this or we will be Segregated further as is happening with the 'System 'Lads.

What benefits could ever be achieved by making a experienced scaff start from pt1 or pt2 again (apart from the Monetary aspect)?

14 years scaffolding, S%*T load of firms ,did the NVQ route couldn't do the assessed route because of my age , I had twice got the money together for my part 1 then part 2 only to be told of the firms I was at that they would pay ,
I chose to save and pay for myself for many reasons , the firm didn't keep a grip of me(like the ''tight fcukin boss '' thread by grafter) , to better myself , to earn the respect that I wasn't gonna sit back and let somebody else do all my donkey work I can go on, in the end the firms paid and said I had to stay a minimum of 6 months To which I left 8 months after (no hard feelings I have since returned).
It is a sad situation for the men involved (all the best ) but it isn't like you work in outer mongolia somebody somewhere would have had the chat about these cards not being recognized any more??

All the best to the fella who is sorting this lot out very charitable ,very time consuming and on top we have hand bags at 40 paces !!

Good point well made phill, but I think that is the point of the thread, a load of guy's getting together to try and sort out their situation. Your dead right about the lucky one's of which I am one but it doesn't mean you can't help a fellow scaff who isn't quite as lucky. Nobody is moaning or winging just a load of scaffs discussing the best way forward to finding a solution to a more common problem than anyone really realised.

well i might be 49,but i aint no dinasour,funny when S.G.B got me the E.C.I.T.B in the first place,who were a respested company and still are.
The only reason were losing are tickets is more MONEY we should be able to take a test to show are skills at a lower cost
