Unit transoms, easyfix, readylock and bones

lol, what you on tonite Super?thats why Im asking the questions.Using something for years and no Data?

I've used Readylock/Easyfix since their inception. At first, like most, hated them. But they are an excellent tool saving time and fittings whilst erecting or dismantling. They are obviously heavier as they have 4 fittings built into the system, but easy to raise or lower hanging them on the ledger or guardrails. Its handy to use them just to base out saving measuring or marking off, You can still use tube and fittings above if you dont have enough. However part of their problem is you cant mix and match on the same lift (or you end up having to fix your upright off a double onto the transom) as the ledger is set in from the line of the uprights. When they were brought in, the information provided was that the maximum of two lifts of ledger bracing could be left out to walk through, but only if the correct tie pattern was in place. When using them now I will always use ledger bracing, but remove and replace a lift at a time for access through etc; There are too many "scaffolders" who think that they do not need ledger bracing and there are and have been many arguments on the subject. The problem with most of these jobs is they are not even tied in!
The main fault with them is that they can be damaged and whilst erecting this is not always noticed until the ledger is put in (the ends may be slightly bent and therefore the uprights are pulled out of line or the bolt on one of them may not work, so they have to bee stripped back out and replaced. Scaffolders not being the most patient of tradesmen, you can imagine the expletives being thrown around, thats when the "Animals" / "Bones" get a slating and why they are not used or liked by everyone.
They are a good tool if they wok properly and definately save time during erecting and dismantling, especially if only one person is turning the spanner.

before nasc brought tg20 out they asked companys for specs on double arms, no company could give them any real data regarding slip test, bracing, tie's, if you look in tg20.08 they are classed as prefabricated components.
