In my eyes an advanced scaffolder should be experienced in ALL aspects of scaffolding, and that includes an understanding of weight transfer, reaction as opposed to action,i.e. if i do this how does it effect other parts of the structure, how and when to use tawser lines, how to do dropper's,rakin shore's,flyin shore's,truss out's,heavy duty falsework all these things were done thinking on your feet without drawings in my day,and i still dont believe designers know more about real life scaffolding than a good old school advance scaff(just my opinion)even simple things like putting ties in,most just put them in blindly, how many look and think the ties are going to be stronger than the building front, therefore i need to build a job the other side to take the tie loadings(another feckin design)the list is endless and can only be learned through many years of real life situations, not taught in two weeks in a training centre under sterile conditions,a good start, yes, but only a start,we need to get back to basic's,our trade is no longer our own,all the experience of everyone on here combined is of no use now because were told how to do the feckin job by people who mostly have never held a spanner in their live's,maybe we should scrap the advance scaffolder title and rename it advance follower of drawing's ticket
