splayed scaffolds

We just tie in side and out standerds with doubbles and throw a lap of boards over and notch if needed simples

Did the Rotundra nightclub in billingham a few years ago when it got demolished I was the only one out of 6 lads who had the foggiest idea how to do it, we got 80% based out and I left them to do the last bit while I spoke to the site agent , When I returned they had barely put 3 more sections in and it was all over the place they were even trying to square the aberdeen up by looking along it toward the curved building, Trying to explain how to make sure your aberdeen was square on took some doing , one lad even kept asking me to explain it over the next 3 days about 10 times .

Get the bent tube out of the yard & use that.I'm sure some of it would fit..

Hexagon it was called on my Advanced course, No building to go round and the Toeboard to sit on the Transoms.

As has been stated, we had more prefabs knocked up in order to get the proper mitre/splay of the stds so it all looked good . ASTI did learn me something, as a few years later, we had splays to do, and some guys thought you could just build towers, and intersecting boards would still work. :embarrest:

On our Course, it was with Double to double, and the Formulae was for a 13' bay you needed no less than a 13'2" ledger, or your splay wouldnt work and you needed extra stds for the fill in to attach transoms double to double, Aberdeen style but above the ledger, to tkake the p1ss out the lapped boards.

Jumbly feck i hear you's call.;)

Funny how there are so many ways of doing the same thing. Depending on the size and curvature we usually kick the job off using short butts for temps to form the angles then just run a ledger off the tower using doubles then board out and slide the Aberdeen up to the underside of the board. Works for us.

i done bannatynes casino in newcastle, alan started it then did one ha
that was band & plate on bottom ledger, clip on the top ledger was a right fuk on,

The way we were taught was Double on Double. Similar to how you describe Paddy
Remember having to erect around that bloody great water tower thing 3 times, up and down (burtons, mills and B&P, same as every job due to lads being from different firms so we could all use the diff fittings properly)

thats the same job i was told to use band and plate you took over when we rapped . i mentioned it on inspection course and he said band and plate arent designed to be used this way so clip to clip

i wonder who told you to use band and plate? no it wasn't me, it was the other pr1ck

after reading the replys am i meant to connect the inside and outside standards using an "aberdeen" as well as plan bracing every bay ???

we base them out by setting the inside standards out completely before falling back and putting trannies across the "lower" of the 2 ledgers, using 2 guage rods to place the outside ledger in position. then we put the trannies across the "upper" ledger on the inside and using the guage rod again, we place the outside ledger. this sits on top of the other previously placed ledger and where they cross is where your standard goes. makes sense to me!!!!!!!!!!

yeah mark it was . we fooked off home when he tried to make us change them after we ignored him.

if you really cant do it just erect seperate scaffolds tie them together with butts and lap the boards , i had to do that a while back with double arms coss my boss wouldnt let me use clips

We use to base it out in the centre double on double on the kicker lift. Middle tower Aberdeen to take the weight of board in the middle link.
Then the towers would change to clips and the link stay the same all the way up.
I'm trying to upload a pic it might work.
