Price is probably the reason, though I bought 500 2nd hand very cheap a few years back. Apart from the normal scaffolding use, I often use them for bolting into concrete for ties. I welded 6 inch butts onto bands an use them instead of u heads for loading bays. lots of uses for them, very versatile fitting.
