Part 1 no experience!

Sat test we all know that the answers R left in a convenient place u pay your money you pass alot of people in the test centers suffer from turn a blind eye syndrome and it's catching and it's not a good thing if we want to get our trade sorted out

Part 1 is still basically a step up from a labourers ticket so I don't see the problem, the ticket shows you have a basic understanding of scaffolding, you still have to be supervised and assessed once you have the ticket

It means fook all ! Other than you have attended a training centre for 10 days, you may well have learnt something but the only criteria for pass or fail is 100% attendance , you now consider yourself to be one step above a labourer without ever putting your time in and growing a second skin on your shoulder . You'd be in for a shock if you turned up on my site , no fast tracking prima donas on my watch ! The lads just wouldn't stand for it and rightly so.

You havn't even got a job scaffolding yet, so how can you have a basic understanding? Like I said in an earlier post, you dont even start to learn untill you are doing it for real. Doing it in college is nothing like doing it for real on the street or site.

Jesus its scaff attack time, put it this way hard graft doesn't bother me in the slightest. Done it for the last 10 year, no disrespect but scaffolding is a step down in the graft department from what I'm used to

Put it this way after the course I know a hell of a lot more than I did before, I've never said I know it all ok.

im wonderin what u used to do , wass1985 , Ok , the posters sayin , yeah youve no experience are right , youve no experience at height , nothin can prepare u for that other than experience , but lets be honest here , scaffolding aint fuckin psychics , its pretty simple to be honest , the hard part is being composed and working correctly while 16 lifts up an oil rig leg or 300ft above the north sea , the hard part of scaffoldin is the part tha cannot be taught.

Worked on the railway, changing rail, sleeper and timber changing, shovel packing, kangoing, etc. proper hard graft when doing high numbers and long stretches. Apart from labouring I've got no experience but the part 1 doesn't make you a scaffolder, I'll still have to be supervised by a qualified scaffolder. Just need the chance to prove I'm a hard worker

Haha how can you say that when you have never had a proper days scaffold work in your life?

You spend a day on the second lift chaining gear up a scaffold all day and come back and tell us scaffolding isnt as hard.

Well you probably will be above that now you have got your part1 though eh.

Who said it wasn't hard work? It will be but it's not as physically tiring as what I'm used to. Try sleeper changing in the middle of summer when the grounds rock hard. I'm saying I won't struggle with the hard work, only with the know how of the job until I fully pick it up

i think this conversation has run its course , yeah we do a hard job , wass can work hard , he wants to learn , good luck m8

Try chaining gear up a scaffold in the middle of winter when the wind and rain is blowing in your face, or spending all day on a rope and wheel pullin long up. But thats probably why you got your part 1, to try n get out of all that.

Plain and simply your right. I prefer grafting, it keeps you in condition. I just need a start now, still on at the railway so I can drop back on that of nothing comes up. It ain't easy getting a Job I'm finding
