supervisor course

Like the lady who was having a wee in the sea said "every little bit helps" lololo

I've said before that it is a complete joke that a scaffold supervisor does'nt even have to achieve the advance status in his own industry, even employer's recognise that this a major flaw in the system and most request a minimum 10 years employment history at supervisor level,so come on cisrs, listen to what the industry is telling you and sort it out:mad:

Whats the better of the 2?

Scaffold Supervisor or SSSTS/SMSTS?
Id have thought that the Scaffold Supervisor course is more indeph, and beneficial to have? no?

Aren't the SSSTS/SMSTS only related to safety?

Well the scaffold supervisor course is a five day course as opposed to the non specific two day course, and you get a cicrs gold card, though most of the course content must be completely over the head's of non scaffolding attendee's,i found the course very informative and you get all the course content modules to take away for reference later on,as we all forget most of what we're taught on these feckin courses, get it done jase,it might change your mind about supervisors or you could at least emerge as a complete c*nt and join the ranks lol:eek::D

Once you have completed the course you can come on here and make yourself look a complete cu,t like couple of weeks a go. Most course that i have see at Erith have been full of Easten European who have found a way of cheating the system. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

In what way are these people cheating the system:unsure:and how do we need to be warned:wondering:i'm not digging you out instructor,i'm just struggling to get the relevence of your post pal:wondering:

1) A 5 day course does not make you a scaffolding supervisor.
2) The end of course test is a joke,no one fails.
3) The course enable anyone to run a job that knows fu.k all about scaffolding and we call this health and safety.
4) I have refused to take this course due to how strongly i feel regards entry level min advance 5 years.

It's a great shame that there isn't a few more like you Instructor.

That's better:)my sentiments exactly instructor, but at least employers are recognising this and asking for ten years experience in most cases:cool:

35 years in the the game which i love and work hard to get where i am. and someone can do a 5 day course and think there are a god is complete bollo.ks.

These fellahs who get the supervisors certificate and don't have the experience will surely be sussed out if they went to run a job.
As a supervisor you are expected to solve problems and innovate ,this only comes with experience and learning from your mistakes which we have all made.
I have seen a few doughnuts get made to supervisor ,but they soon crash and burn .

 Thats the problem with the old school of thought.....its now qualifications 1st & experiance 2nd

Back in the good old days when scaffolding was f'ckn scaffolding and supervisor cards were not a requirement, A lot of the tits I saw in this game, just had to have a nose and tongue that could nicely park itself up the project managers arse and "hey voila!!" they were instantly promoted to a supervisor. A card for this and a card for that is just a money making scheme for the training providers and I have got to agree with an earlier post...you don't really hear of any failures coming out of these courses...WHY!. This industry has changed some much over the years, I just wonder what state it will be in, in the next ten years. Old quote: Knowledge can be a dangerous thing, so leave the fighting to the Experts.

True. Im absolutely useless, but i get on through sheer ticket-ability. ;)
I know what you mean though, but... it is possible to do something for 20+ years and still be wrong.

Personally, i think, a mix of both experience AND qualifications cant really be beat.

They dont quite cover enough practical work on these courses and seem to worry a bit too much about teaching legislation and regulation, when no one ever remembers those things after.
I know i cant... but i can still remember why a fitting goes where its supposed to.
