Sg4:10

Its all good & well saying that the SG guidance is guidance only!!

Try telling site agents that.

The content of these guidance notes need to be thought out better. Last year I was on a 10ft high temp roof. I had an enertia reel on & the Health & Safety rep for the site asked me where my three boards & hand rail where.

Once we picked ourselves up he would no
t listen to us on how a temp roof is built & we were escorted off site by security.

Once the office got hold of his manager we were back on site the next day.

Why to untrained site agents have access to our guidance when they can't understand it, or are not qualified to!!

its a crying shame a scaffolder cant think for himself anymore, overcome problems ,without having to refer to a f--king book to see i your allowed, the industry is FU-KED,Common sense and experiance dont count anymore.

The simple answer to the above is that nobody wants to be up in court on corporate mansluaghter charges.

3000 members out of 32,000 registed scaffolders with the NASC, still a long way to go? If you have any points with regards the new SG4:10 i will bring it to the attention NASC. Remember i am on the same side as you.

may i remind you that the cisrs card is only a training registration scheme and the qualification is NVQ. its only nasc that has bullied all companies into thinking that CISRS is the qualification..

steve good post fella,iv had my citb card 20 odd year it changed over to cisrs as you know,i have no nvq status on my card, never been unemployed so where do i stand?do i have to do a course to attain this nvq?if so this lot are having a laugh and its time to get rid of them.the eictb situatation is a scandle also.

Only just seen this mate so im sorry for taking so long in getting back to ya.. Its to my understanding that after either 2012 or 2014 any cards which do not have NVQ on the back wont be renewed .. so if you did the assessed route years ago before it became NVQ based it doesnt look good .. but it is hear say that ive heard..so my advice is renew it before the dates above and you'll get another 5 yrs..giving you the chance to get your portfolios together before it expires again.

ANY WAY THE MEETING IS 1 WEEK AWAY SO FIRE THE QUESTIONS TO ME WHICH YOU NEED ASKING AT THE MEETING WITH THE HSE AND THE SCCR. NASC will not be at this meeting.

thats gana please a few people not!!!!!

Hi Instructor
I dont mean to be derogetry but the NASC has no where near 32'000 scaffolders, according to their latest safety reports the have 13'000 (just over), so 3000 is not a bad share of that figure.

At the end of the day all these measured are brought about because to crazy situation we have with the Ambulance Chaser/Claim Culture climate we have in this country at the moment, I see the goverment are starting to clamp down on them and hopefully common sense will start to prevail. I have no problem with anyone who has had an accident at work and is in real hardship...but claiming because the cup of hot coffee you bought from Mcdonalds scolded you (real case btw) well it is just fooking stupid and results in all the pain in the arse red tape we have to put up with!!

It would be good if you could maybe have a chat with our SCCR Training Secretary Steve Gregory, give him a PM mate.

Regards
Paddy H&S development Secretary SCCR

Hi Paddy,

I have just seen your title (H&S Development Secretary) - and it lead me to wonder - how are you going to develop H&S in the context of the SCCR?

Share love and spread the load. with regards training issues i have to be careful but will help if i can.

yes fully understand the be careful bit but cisrs have shafted all instructors by removing instructors cards and moving to this database crap. where only Dave Mosely can have access to it..(Data protection act states anyone can view information kept about themselves.)
Im sorry but i got my qualifications on merit and hard work then the suits wanna stop us teaching abroad ... cos there not getting a slice of the cake they dont like it.
time for instructors to make a stance. all we want is the instructors cards reinstalled instead of having to pay a registration fee at every training centre we teach at..Its a disgrace...

glad you put this on here steve my self and others can now see the trainners are getting
a rough time too the whole system needs a bloody good shake up hope the sccr can make a diffrence its all take take and no give.

what centre charges a registration fee?

each centre has to register you every time you work somewhere different( more money for nasc) so if you are freelance and work at 20 different training centres over the year you have 20 x registration fees to pay.

have a read up on CAP609A instructors manual from CISRS.
