Yep
Too dodgy a place and not enough money ,I bet after a month a lot will quit

what was the wage ? it wasnt any more than a good offshore wage per week was it?

sound marra just pulling my bald hair out first time bn out of work in 18 year its fuckin killin me. there **** all out the now. but thx tho marra......

hee hee , personally i wouldnt go to these kind of places , i think the wages should be at the least 2 grand a week in a place like this , i didnt go to ghana when i could have but i know my m8's were on about £1700 a week there , i cant be bothered going through this thread , but i think i remember the figure £1250 a week was mentioned , which i would say is not enough. Good luck to all in this job and come home safe

just realised $250,000 dollars would be what £125,000 , then at 50 weeks , that could work out at a bit more than 2g a week , i think would be/should be about right

$250,000 is about 156,000 quid but Cape only pay that to scaffs in Australia.
Where do I send cv... Lol.
What's it like trying to get a sponsor to get work out there ATM? I know scaffolding is not on the Aussie governments list of trades thingy, but is there work available for uk Scaff's out there, would you say HSWT?

Very hard to get a sponsor as a scaffolder although Caledonian in SA were doing so. I personally think Australia has yet to peak. There are large scale projects in the early stages in WA, QLD and NT.
A large number of good scaffolders who got laid off when we finished on Pluto are back in Sydney and Brisbane banging up yellow jelly for 14 quid ahour.
I have a feeling the big companies will look to Asia for skilled labour in the future. They already did this with insulators and then got some Brits in on temporary visas when it came to the crunch.

hours are 6 days week 10 hours a day. 60 hours
it will take 3 weeks to get a business visa
then the rotation will be 4 weeks in country. back home for 3 weeks to get the work visa then 10 weeks in country.

money is £1250 per week in country then £250 per week while waiting for the work visa. all monies paid after tax in uk bank account..

JB78- info was on the first post m8 -think the maths works that out at £20.80 ph so around the same as a good A ticket would receive over here but without the agg
but i dont think the guys are going for money but the experiance and hope to build contacts,
hotspanner is a experianced guy who i know and have had the pleasure of working with and would rather heed anywarnings he gave then dismiss them as bullshiiit
HSWT- think it was hotspanner that said he'd earned $250 for 12 months which was a lot more than what the guys were being offered which i think he was trying to tell them (maybe a chance that they were about to get ripped off )

A bit like what the SCCR is saying, a Quantified, researched, and Experienced pool of highly skilled Scaffolders, maybe a std rate for SCCR buisness companies.

Pool of Scaffs, for :-
!.Overseas
2.Offshore
3.Construction
4.PTS
5.Power stations
6.Instructors
7.Supervisers
8.Contract managers

I hope that you and your Family are all fit and well Brother ???

Apologies for the delay in replying to your post---is it unachievable and a bridge too far to have aspirations of a Scaffolders Pool ???...

We, like many other Forum Members have worked behind the seines on Projects, Training and self learning initiatives for the betterment of our Industry and the Scaffolders who serve it, are we all dreamers or is there an end product that will benefit the Scaffolders ???.

If we do not aspire to better and greater things what is the point of all the pontification ???.

Fraternal regards always...

Garry...

I agree Garry mate.

Too many Scaffolders are looking to stitch their workmates up and get one over on them, instead of standing next to them and standing strong, when things get rough...

That, i believe is the main reason why the games gone down the toilet...

We dont stick together, all we do is try to mug each other off all the time.
Not all of us, but a good few do.

Shame really.

all well and good saying things like that , but just like the young scaffs working for a wage others consider not good enough , yourself and the others going to this job , will do so for a wage others consider not good enough , therefore driving down the wages paid in these kind of jobs , you think your the solution when your part of the problem.
