listen to myself yeh fuuuckin rite i do as halfwits like u aint worth listen to

Algeria is hardly half way across the world. Just off the med really. I say good luck to those going. Working away is also about having an experience and the crack.
We can all sit on the internet and bang on about what we were earning 3 years ago. Life is about trying new things and going to new places.
Maybe the bitter comments on here are from those who tried and were rejected?;)

By all accounts Jason will be documenting our progress via his youtube thingmimibob...

In all seriousness though I hope that this assignment will be the start of a new trend in Service Company Recruitment---as I have mentioned before there is a wealth of experience on the Forum---we the Forum Members could Supply labour Only Crews consisting of Line Management through to Scaffold Erectors a REAL comprehensive Quality Service---your thoughts please Bro'z ???

Garry...

Great idea. Will have a think and get back.

I havent read any bitter comments on hear Geez - the ones i made are truthfull and honest about an area i've worked in - u seem fairly well travelled av u never been over there ?
tbh if i wanted to go back over i could but have settled in a nice cushy little number over ear now and get to see the missis & kids regular, its a bit like offshore work or shut downs over here u take it when its available and enjoy the downtime inbetween when its not - but at end of day the cash as gotta be right or y bovver, most sites like these now employ unskilled labour to the max and put a couple of heads up guys to run there sections or teams, but 10hr shifts in full gear at 80c + 6 days a week and livin in an ISO for take ome of less than a1 large is a piiis take, but like gary sez if u aint worried about gettin slotted or the dosh and only want it for the crack than fair play but i reckon spielburg might have a few probs getting his broadband access lolo

I was referring to you calling the guys "mugs". Each is a man who makes their own decisions regarding work location and remuneration. It will be good experience for those who have never worked overseas before. Dont think I could do a 10hr shift at 80c or even if there is a man alive that could. Not been to Algeria but would go without hesitation if the package offered was suitable for me but never knock any man for what they earn as long as they are having a go.

fair enough if it hurts ur feelings, but in my book anyone willin to do that shift for that package,in hostile territory not only is a mug but stark ravin mad, but like u say it there choice -still be interesting to see who comes ome wiv there tail btween there legs

Phil181 ask banny bout livin in shipping container he did for 9 months in germany back in the 90s
Thats why he got so much dough

Algeria, where's that? I though the job was in alcudia.....

It's been confirmed in writing that all tax contributions will be paid on top of the 1250.

The few 'over seas men' who have commented on this tread will all probably agree that we're not going to be retiring millionaires on the back of this job. But like Garry says hopefully the next time will be different.
I think this 17 week deployment will get me some experience, contacts, references and improve my chances of landing the next one.
If not then il quite happily carry on with what I'm doing ATM

It seems that the crew going are aware of the possible dangers and conditions and they are happy with the renumeration.
I don't think hotspanner is having a dig he's just offering his experience and pointing out the obvious.
Good luck lads and keep us posted.

And the rest of you stay close to Garry if it starts to get rough lol.

PMSL---it wont be the first time Iv crashed in a Container---used a container on the skid deck of the Brent B, feckin army blankets and ex-army metal bunks---feckin luxury

It must have been a massacre when hotspanners was there the way he's going on. Don't want to sound like I'm sitting on the fence but a Brit was executed there a few weeks ago along with an Italian in a failed sbs rescue. Having said that it's a massive country & so long as u stay on site I suppose it should be ok as previously mentioned I wouldn't go stumbling around town pissed up.

Lads good luck with it. Just stick together and stay safe. I am sure all the lads on this forum wish ye the best of luck. We have to look out for each others. FXXk knows employers don`t.
Stay Safe
