Mills fittings

Yeah I know that mate - he asked for a picture of a mills clip, which a lot of people called a 'winkle'.

They also used them on transoms and ran a transom on doubles over each set of standards.

If you read my third post I suggested that he was getting confused with the doubles - which are ok on splays.

In my first post I'm suggesting that he was getting confused with the doubles too.

Did my apprenticeship with gkn and I hated the jockeys whip but the doubles are still the best fitting around.jockeys are great for toe boards.

Whats the reason behind the gkn mills fitting not being used anymore ?. Cos i for one think their a supperb fitting.

What fitting scaff? Jockeys or doubles because inter serve still use mills doubles which I agree are the best fittings around

haven't got a clue 80ty but they said this about the band an plate hey presto its ok to use now who knows what goes through their heads personally the hook transom clip was very versatile and was quite fond of it when I worked on zeneka in Huddersfield that's when mills was mills and not gkn then interserve and when your templets was made up you couldn't fix them on the pi55 if you tried with their doubles steel on steel made a good square

I used them on the halifax royal infirmary in the early 00's for kwickform uk as there known, ad you say scc once you get your board width set happy days, none of this trying to eye it in square-- half the kids nowadays spend that long trying to square jobs ypu can go for a brew and they'll still be at it.

St...if interserve still use the mills why dont other hire and sales companys have them available for anyone else to use?.

I think its the jockeys whip ie the transom hook mate not the doubles I know the speed thread doubles was banned offshore cuz of the vibration

The speed thread 90 was never band offshore or onshore in the petrochemical industry this was just another Tea shack myth
If you screw your fitting up right then you know by experience how it feels, and that's the same with any fitting.
I work offshore with Mills GKN down in Morecambe bay 1991 this was the last contract for them as all the rest of the firms could supply multi task trades offshore.
Some of the troops will have other storeys why they were supposed to be band but it is only word of mouth in the world of the Scaffolder

mills doubles

mills doubles are now an endangered species since the manufactorer hf shaw went bust.nobody thought it would be a good idea to buy the tooling at the liquidation sale.however there is still a mills scaffolding in france (entrepose mills)they may still be making the mills double

you doing an impersionation of MARRA allscaff
took me 10 mins to work out what you meant mate;)

it was funny watching someone who had never used them before not realising you had turn the bolt flat side down to get the ledger in. Swearing screaming and throwing them around till they realised - happy days. Most blokes i've met despised them, but once you got used to them, they were great - the hooks were carp though, except for toeboards!

Just found on tinternet that global scaffold supplies still produce the gkn hook fitting and roman scaffolding in south wales are selling the mills double.

way back in the good old days you used to be able to undersling needles with the mills hook only doubleing them up
if youve doen ti you know what i mean;)

mills fittings are number 1 as i learned with these fittings, though a lot of scaffs don't like them and the mills hook is great for splays

They still use em @ birtchem newton . When the bins with normal DCs are all empty the mills havent been touched as most guys av never come accross em b4 just for the reason that gunslinger stated they may give em a try but after 10mins they get put back in the bins lol
