Mills fittings

not had much use with the mills but if you need to slip 1 in some were you have no chance well that what i have found with them you need all them on b 4 putting tube in maby some old timers may have a good way of slipping in the mills doubble

The Mills Double Is The Best Double In The Industry Without A Doubt, Double On Double Cant Go Wrong, The Mills Swivel Is Also A Good Fitting, Liked The Mark Three Double And Swivel And Band And Plate.

Scaffy inter serve in wales still use them, don't know about England.im sure on this thread someone said they use them on tanks (as in tank farms) I imagine.everyone I've done you don't fill the splay as they're usually 8x5 towers and you just lap 5ft boards across and tie the inside uprights every other lift and the handrails on the outside act as ties.

Has anyone got a picture of a mills joiner, I've heard there good for braces?

Has anyone got a picture of an aloe vera plant?

I've heard they're good for genital herpes.

Unequal ground pressure.

@ stjoeph...

Better wi a square base plate so you can square off yer base lift...

A round base plate, you might have got something there, could be used for pedestrian trip control ???

I've not done much system Fred, which ones have the round plates?

I may have a few in the yard with the corners cut off them for some reason but that's about it. I suppose it could be a much cheapness thing.

Probably not, but as I explained to the apprentice here the other day I like to know the reasons for things. We were doing a bit of a stock take and despite 2 years of training he didn't know the difference between the smaller 5 ton jacks and the older larger 9 ton jacks. I would never have went that long without enquiring why we had 2 different sizes in stock. It's the same thing for the steel boards, why are they slightly wider than timber, nobody can explain that one to me not even the manufacturers.

The couple of jacks we have here with the corners off them came from god knows where and feel a lot lighter and cheaper than our usual ones.

The timber boards work better to be honest as you just fit the toe board first then squeeze the deck tight against it. There is a small gap but nothing to worry about on most jobs. Same with the loading bay, works perfect with your 2 sunken toe boards. The steel is awkward to stack, store, transport and you have to use a 13' board for a toe board as they almost fill the deck alone. They tell me it was an SGB thing and the rest just copied but I started a thread some time ago and got nowhere. I bought them as our timber 2" boards are getting past their best and I did see a couple we were using for skids find their way onto a job once.

I agree timber boards work better with most systems. Obviously fitting nicely can change with different sizes like 1.2 bays etc but slanting the toe boards slightly got over that.
SGB had 3 metre steel boards which were a devil to put on when you were on a hanger in the shipyard. You could manage a 2.5 on your own but the 3's were just slightly too awkward and you needed a mate
