A company called HCI used to supply scaffolders to the Holland shipyards a few years ago mate. Google HCI and their website will come up.

They have changed there name a few years back, but they are still operating under the name "Enviro wrap" google that and you should get the number, the bloke you need to speak to is Rob Turnbull, will look in my phone maybe still have the number myself.

Yes Rob Turnbull was the UK based contact. They used to supply a lot of UK scaffolders to the shipyards for rig maintainance work. Great experience if you are interested in doing hanging scaffolds.
Gingerdog when were you over there?

I was over there from 1998 to 2003 worked all over Holland, went with nowt came back with nowt, but a lot of fantastic memories, life for a single bloke out there. Got that phone number anyway 01233860080. The other companys to try for out there is BBL from ilford,London you'll find them on google, Or Meridian recruitment (formely STM recruitment) i think the number is 01412296140.

if you are serious about a start in holland dont bother with the agencies
as you will get ripped off for your money at some point.we were over there working in rotterdam euro port about 6 years ago, working for a right dopey pair of tw@ts who ran a agency from a place in the north of holland.which was part run from a bloke called jonh jamerson in newcastle.and we were working for a dutch company called "van der pane" who wanted us to pay for all our saftey gear when we got there.(should have jump back in the car at that point)..was promised loads of work and as many hours as we wanted..all was ok for the first few weeks then it went down hill rapid...done a few months for sgb and ened up staying in a shed inside a green house for 2 weeks in a place called rockanje and enough was enough..back home...and still had to fight for wages that was owed .but we did have a good crack over there...just be careful who you work for..and try and stay out of a place called botleg ship yard.without doubt the one most dangerous place i have ever had the mis-fortune to work at..would never return as long as i had a hole in my arse...

Yes offshorescaff you are right to advise to be careful of some agencies.Still owed some money from a Essex based agency who I did some work for back in 98 at Schiphol airport.
Have heard of agencies supplying manpower for van de panne I think one was run by a little fat man called John.
And the Verolme shipyard Botlek was not a place for the fainthearted or those who are scared of heights.
But the crack was great and made some great friends there.
Not sure how the work situation is now.

Yes your right about that little fatman called John, I worked for the same **** and got bumped for my last weeks wages, again Van De Panne the outfit on the Botlek, By the way his full name is John Wilson form Fleetwood, heard he went to Dubai a few years back, probaly ripping some poor people off over there too, Never had a problem getting paid by HCI though. Spread the word John Wilson is a thieving ****.

really wish i could think of the name of the agency we went with, know one of the guys was called henrick or henry.11 of us done a 36hrs shift for them on the sea fox 4 platform so they could get the thing out on time.and ened up with over 120 hrs owed for the week..and guess what they bumped 7 of the lads for all there wages for that week ...w@nkers...and to top it off even more they cancelled there gate cards so they could not access the site.to say they were fuming when it came to pay day was a under statment , we tried on there behalf but all of a sudden phones were off and the dutch foreman could not speak english any more...thats when we jumped to sgb and had no problems with them...

interesting stories , lots of my mates went to holland with HCI but never heard of any of them getting bumped

HCI or ACS as they were called before were always reliable payers.Based in Kent and Belgium and used to supply scaffolders to SGB Holland or SSH as they were before.
Heard some bad stories about this Wilson guy and last heard he was in Qatar throwing his weight around before he got fired. I know a few guys who were bumped for wages by him and an Essex agency called BBL.

Was talking to a mate of mine, a fitter working in the Verolme shipyard, he told me that the scaffolding is a discrace, all polish scaffolders, a few accidents from scaffolding materials falling, got so bad that the fitters, welders refused to work on the scaffolds until they were put right.

The botlek is a crazy place,i think i said in my other post you have to be on red alert there the whole time, ive seen a couple of lads been killed there, here is a example im not going to mention names but im sure if ther were lads there when this happened they know what im talking about,we were changing shifts, the lads came on to start the night shift ,we were building a massive hanger 150m by 75 m the under side of a lifting barge, the second biggest in the world, after the saipem 7000,any ways one of the lads lost his balance on the hanger,he grabed onto a punchin,he could not hold on and fell straight into the dry dock ,why did he fall ? Well we all know the anwser he wasnt cliped on,but the poor fellow was only on the hanger he didnt get a chance to clip on,but i do believe he be still here today if some stupid c%unt had of put 2 fittings on his punchin,he didnt ,were did he put the double on the beam that he had put on,on the bloody bottom, when the guy grabed it it shot out wit his weight,if it was on the top of the beam he would of had a better chance of holding on,hate to bring up bad memories but believe me there is no saftey at verolme botlek,no body inspects scaffolds like uk ,were would you see in the world lads building hangers and people working beneath them ,only 1 place verolme botlek, rip,my old mate

Nasty accident mate why on gods earth would you not put both doubles on while you were there just dont make sense :sad2:

the bloke wouldnt off been roger barber? great bloke and an excellent scaff, worked with him back in the uk.......

I remember that aswel mate sad RIP

no mate it wasnt roger, roger fell from a scaffold on a church ,anwsered his phone leant against a hand rail ,it popped out and he fell ,he was a class scaffolder, his famous saying was now then c-unt,i learned alot from him, your in cumbria ,do ya know the weee fella titch dunne
