i remember an english guy fallin form leg of a rig in botlek around 2000/2001 when workin for HCI, they took 2 hours from they were sayin about 100 men , that paid for his £20,000 medivac to hospital in england, last i heard he was in a wheelchair , eatin through a straw. cant remember his name. were a hard bunch and to be honest most scaffs there either drank too much, hungover on job or were smokin huge reefers all day long , accidents will happen and most time its peoples own fault.

I was there then from what i can remember it was two guys in a man hoist on the inside of a leg at the top of it 100m up,it was on the ensco 100,they were both killed, the cable snapped on the hoist ,they were both mangled, neither survived,

If I remember correctly those two guys werent scaffolders. Neither were the guys in the lifeboat from the Saipem barge that hit the dockside.
One scaff fell from Scarabeo 6 in 97 and there were a few more incidents around that time.
I think the guy who ended up crippled was from Norwich way and he actually fell at the Hoogovens Steel Works (now Corus). That was while working on SGB Sprint.

yes thats all correct mate,i was also in hoogovens wen that happened, also the 2 lads in the hoist were not scaffs, the 2 lads in the life boat were 2 italians, the lad that fell from the scarabeo i worked with his brother sean, but im not certain if it was the scarabeo or the glomar grand banks he fell from, what a place ,when i think of it now it puts the shivers up my spine, how many more was never killed there is beyond me,mayb we got lucky, but as one other lad posted most of the lads were on the reefers,i even seen a guy ther on lsd,its a crazy place ,scaffolders grave yard,i love a good time myself but i was always on my toes when i worked there,as they say your not a scaff till ya build a hanger in the dry docks of verolme botlek

IIm told its on shell pernis (happy memories ).....and also harsco got work in vlisingen.

the only uk company that subbies to sgb holland is HCI ,its doubtful they will get into shell pernis, the last time they were on that plant, they supplied guys with doggy vca certs, now may be this has changed ,also if you work for HCI the most you will get for 40hrs is 600e a wk,they do not pay digs, you will need your own transport as well,

Not true there have been numerous agencies who supplied scaffs to them. Atlas was one.
