Was i right to walk off the job...?

The agency should have told the truth about the terms and seem unprofessional. I bet it was Coyles. From an agency perspective it is important to get the pricing policy accurate and honest so all the scaffs r happy.

easy to say the right fing when all u want is the guys buisiness u mug
all u agencys are in it for 1 thing and 1 thing only urself ! fact
since the employment law changed u leeches crept in from the dark corners of some shiiiit ole to bum rape all the hard working scaffs and let the main contractors hide from the law and there responibilities under your skirt, used to be the tax man we had to try and aviod now its u smove talkin money grabin mugs....shame on u :(

mike hows it going whats happening on heathrow have you started men or are you in the process of doing this.

Agencies thrive as a result of main contractors wanting no employment responsibilities. No sick pay no holdays no national insurance no pensions,no tax liabilities. Unfortunately its a no brainer for companies. Less cogs to grease. Raining go home, snowed in stay in bed, too hot, fry. If your no good, bye bye.agencie will send another one. No wonder site managers are such erses. No comaraderie loyalties. ha ha still writing and its posted itself.. So question is??? What you gonna do about it?

In fact Jay I take back what I said earlier, you were not right to walk off that job...............................you should have been escorted off the premises kicking & screaming with some feckers still beating heart in your mitts mate. :D:D:D

Right thing mate I too hate being lied to, had one firm I started on do it to me so I walked off at the end of the day.

Thanks for the comments about agencies hotspanner. We have a difficult position to defend due to a generally poor reputation of agencies in the scaffolding field. There is always a demand in the market place however for temporary workers due to the peaks/troughs of construction as well the complicated legislation associated with hiring and off-hiring labour.

Going back to the original scenario - if the agent had got his pricing right and advertised the contract with honesty I am sure all parties would have been happy?

Welcome To The Forum Mike, Its True Enough What You Are Saying But Agencies In General Have On This Forum A Piss Poor Reputation I Stress In General Not Specific, I Myself Have Worked For Several And Never Really Had A Problem It Would Be Good If Every Now And Again You Were To Contribute To The Forum.

Thanks for your comments Gerscaff, if anyone needs any advice on problems with agency contact I can always help.

I have 16 years experience in the field and so have come across and dealt with most of the problems that can occur dealing when with recruitment consultancies on site.

Cheers
Mike

Ive had it happen to me by a couple. Tell you anything to get you on the job and then when you get there you find out its not what its cracked up to be. C**ts trick. But going to work for an agency it has got to be expected. On the other hand you could end up with a better deal than what you thought you was going to get. Agency's are abit like a box of chocolates.

I wouldnt have jacked unless I knew I had somthing else to go to, as much as I hate been lied to, ya gota think of the £££ especially if you was going to be earning more than the last place, even if you wasnt going to be doing 6-7 10s.

If I was you now Id go back to my old firm ask for my old job back and eat humble pie.

As for not getting paid for your breaks, I think that is happening on most big sites thesedays. Early (paid) friday finishes and paid breaks are slowly becoming a thing of the past on BIG sites.

I noticed you talking to Tom from Octain recruitment recently on here. Was it them?

Good luck anyways Jason, I'm sure you will find something.
