Its quicker cos you've no sleeves and theres no need to stagger your joints, but it bends far too easy.

Both manufacturers say they shouldn't be mixed although many of the components can be interchanged.
I remember Plettac had a truss system temporary roof back in the 80s .

Correct Fred
Plettac was a product well used in the 80's run by a guy named Bob Bell I think.
SGB bought the roof system and you old mate Barry Rigg's brother Dennis had a bit to do with it for a while

Cuplok was invented and used by SGB in the 70's it was also manufactured in the UK at this time but soon moved to India and China.

Nothing wrong with Cuplok it depends on what you get used to I guess

good concept don't like the wedge couplers but the tube lok component I like and have used a lot. Converted tons of tube whilst at Bow. Also liked their sliding transoms which everyone now claim as their own idea!!

Did a few temporary roofs when subbing to SGB using the Plettac system Alan. Some with the canvas and others with the more traditional tin sheets. All the scaffolds in b+p of course. Put one Plettac roof together in the dark at Oxford once with Peter Hayler because SGB didn't want to hire the crane for another day. Which led to the saying when working with any system. "A fecking blind man could do this *****!!"

Bamboo, that's the way forward.

oh and twine

Now there's a step (back) in the right direction Philip. Do you think they will reinstate the two caravans Band and Plate for their best employees ? I can't wait...

Polzeath.

My kids used to love it there, stayed there a few times thanks to SGB. good memories.

They were the greatest scaffold firm EVER, pioneered loads of brilliant ideas, trained loads of great scaffs, erected thousands of excellent jobs.

did a sphere in grangemouth a few years ago with cuplok for sgb the roof was to be a HAKI ROOF according to the drawing but some smartarrse decided to use the plettac roof. The pitch on the Haki is higher so when they lifted the first section it got burst with a venting pipe at the top of the Sphere.
We had to erect another 3 lifts to take the plettac.Dont know what happened to the smartarse he probably got promoted;)

I had many visits to Band & Plate at Polzeath, the claw always managed to pull me over for driving in excess of 5mph on the site!!

Yea that's what I'm saying, SGB were the best ,Trad were ok but SGB were in a different league. Keep up HSWT all that sands blocking up your ears.

Who knows what you are saying? One minute you are talking about bamboo and the next minute you are talking about the innovators of tubular steel access. My head's spinning.:D
