Mate labourer card is green, trainee is red ( part 1 and 2 course) , blue (scaffolder) gold (advanced) black ( top level management) you have green I assume, you can not apply for a red card before you have done part 1 ull need at least 6 months labouring before you can attempt part 1, years ago you started of with a red card as i did as there were no green cards in scaffolding ( 10 yrs ago) but the above is the official route mate trust me
 
You can call yourself whatever you like it won't make a whole load of difference. As far as we understand the term, a trainee is a young person going through the apprenticeship route, others will term someone starting the adult route doing a part 1 the same way. We do start them off with a labourers card as they have to have 6 months experience on site before they even do their 3 week induction.
 
iv been labouring for scaffs now on and off id say 1 year give or take.
when i call the cscs people the lady said if i have worked for scaffs in the past and know what im doing then know need for green card just get my red card and start applying for my part 1 part 2 basic ect you only get 18 months with a red card to get your training but green scaffolding laborer card lasts 5 years!!!
im not planning on jumping on my part one stright away with a firm mite be nice tho lol
but whats better to say to a potential scaffolding firm im a trainee looking to better my self or im a lab and all know is to carry stuff??
 
Unless you have been on the spanner b4 i see it as you are a lab yes you cna go for your part 1 yes you cna get a trainee ticket b4 doing the part 1 but am sure you need to be employed for the trainee card with out part 1 only diffrence is after compleing part 1 you get tube and fitting on the back of the card. Yes get you harness get you spanner yes wear them but dont be telling employers your a trainee with no spanner exprience

good point marra but do you know how to carry stiff? Do you know how to turn a spanner ? Stick to what you know for the now and when you feet are under the table at a firm ask for a bit of spanner time

Okay.....

Keep asking questions... never take NO for an answer ... and you'll get on...

There are not a lot of employers with integrity like AOM ....so be vigilant....a lot will just use you.

If you are really serious about getting on in this game, you will....but it is hard.

Iv help guys on jobs on the tools fit toe boards hand rails gin wheels braces fan lifts striking jobs netting ect but not i don't have the CARDS saying i am scaff NO i don't know anything like what you guys know but i only need to be told once or shown once...

if not got a lot of time on the spanner but iv got a bit
 
That's what I like about the fella I was telling you about, show him once and he has it. As I said, you will do well.

i like a challenge in life building things with my hands planning things out working in a team or on my own solving problems. im a good team leader only need telling showing once
ill get the job done i worked on tight dead lines on jobs get it done on time and in a safe manner your only as good as your last job!!!
if your working in a team your only as strong as your weakest link I dont do wimpy man up or go home and watch Jeremy charle.
