Render adapt

Worked on Leadbitter sites when they see the gap over 225mm to the ledger not the standard they want the inside board removed & a tube clipped to the transoms to reduce the gap.

Have based out timber frames to give minimum gaps for timber frame with two inside boards & leave a 5 inch gap when one is removed for rendering. Five lift job to be K rendered, the renderers were using a pump & a long smoothing edge, asked to remove second inside board, fitted & charged extra double rail & toe board. Renderers removed!!

The HSE looks for no gap, unless you can back up why you have a serviceable gap & it is covered in all method statements with working practices in place.

On site H&S asked for impracticable solutions a lot of the time as they are largely blinkered to what needs to be done to complete the work.

I would say it was up to all trades to find a solution. It's about time the users realised why we build them the way we do and find a way to do their job from the platform provided. It's quicker for the lazy man just to haul it out the way and slash it on whereas a real tradesman would take the time and consideration to do the job correctly without the need for butchering safety equipment such as scaffolding, an act that used to get you thrown of sites not that long ago.
