Kwikstage

Yep ger 100% agree that most tube struggle with system but used lather, cup lock, haki, Peri up and kwikstage the order said is my favourite system kwikstage canny stand it it's the wedges in the ledgers and trannies that does it always bent and takes ages to get out!!!

I've always thought a Scaff had to be quite tough to stick kwikstage and you've proved it fella FairPlay

Thanks Bobby, Iv Used Most Systems And Done Hangars In Kwikstage, I Have Also Done Cantelevers In Kwikstage As Well Mate Its A Good System, Bloody Heavy Though, (Or Am I Just Getting Old ?)

Stone Thats True About The Standards Mate And Both Legs Must Be Caught, Not Just The Inside Leg With A Butt, The Bracing Pattern Has Changed Its Not To Be Dog Legged Anymore,But You Have To Chase The Brace With The Bottom Wedge Below The Last Pressing On The Previous Brace.

That's always been a bit of a conundrum with me Ger. Basic scaffolding logic tells you that the brace should be continued from the NoDe point (or as near as is practicable). Cuplock takes the brace lift to lift exactly, why does the kwikstage system come from the lug below the lift? To my mind, there should always be a kwikstage 'ledger' fitted at the bottom of the brace ensuring the continuation of the same brace pattern is as strong as it should be.

I Was Always Taught To Dog Leg The Brace Every Four Bays, Now Its A Straight Run Going From The Return, Another Thing I Was Taught Was Why Brace A Return? Every Return Bay Was A Tie, If Your Scaffold Is Returned On All Four Corners Its Impossible For It To Go Over, Now You Have To Butt Tie The Corners As Near The Lift Height As Possible.

The Four Meter Standards Are Worse Bobby, Handy As Fekk For Bungalows Though Mate. Mind You Sod Hemping Them Out At Four Foot Ten .

Its A Three Pressing Hemp Out , I Always Stand On The Pressing Cause If The Four Meter Starts To Go TIMBER.

toppin g out PADDYS i always get the building side and push up against the building
im only 3ft tall:eek:
regards the staggering with Kwikstage i will have to go up to the Loft and have a wee rumage as im sure they didnt in my original Booklet from GKN in 1990.
I worked with a mob using HAKI around 92 and the Haki did specify Staggering the standards.
I MUST BE GETTING DRUNK IF I DARE TO QUESTION OOR ALAN AND MR WORLDWIDE BUT HEY WHO;)

Being Honest Happy I Have Never Heard Of Staggering Standards On Kwikstage, Or Any System For That Matter Good Buddy.

I last used yellow peril back in the mid 80s - heavy old gear to carry around & always getting a lug in the shoulder-ouch @ the memory- but tbh I was taught back then to stagger the standards which kept the bays stronger & helped against too much laterial movement.....ideal for making racks in the yard & with not many parts unlike new systems 2day, easy to put 2geter but allways reverting back to t& f for the niggley bits lol

Only ever used it once.......did a cinema complex in dudley. We used it for the screens as it was straight off concrete and no need to level the jacks. We didnt have the joy of the lightweight steel decks.......just the awkward heavy timber feckers.

One and only time I used kwik form was on a ministry job building blast chambers in the early eightys ,
I thought it was quite good for the concrete shuttering we where erecting it for ,
But I do remember a very near nasty accident one day when the crane caught the scaffold with a concrete skip an lifted the whole top lift out of the spigots ,
Lucky the lads standing on it managed to jump onto a near by slab and no one was hurt ,
After that we had to stagger all the standards

They were called omega boards den...& ur right they were heavy.we alsi used to cut them down to make stair treddas outta em.

I know kwikstage is not popular on here but a few years back u cud hav got used stuff for £2-£3 an item. It's up a bit now but compare that to other systems. If u get used working with it it's quick to erect and you get the same hire rates.
