do your bit

I know I have posted this on three different threads. I do feel there are some people out there to cause me & the SCCR problems.

It now seems that I am being accused of taken other scaffolders money. £10 to someone you have not met!! I have used my name on here whenever I am doing SCCR work. I have placed my mobile number on here several times.

The fact that the HSE have started consultation with us three times a year & I have already had effect on two changes that are in SG4 2010 is a result.

In the new year the SCCR is to have a meeting with Dave Mosley in relation to CISRS scheme.

The only reason I have not been on is I work away from home & when I have been at home my phone line was down, fixed now!!

The web site is still being worked on when finished there will be areas that will be seen by all & some for members only. The mission statement is always open no secrets.

If you do not want to join stop making such a big deal out of it!!

"As we have talked in the past the SCCR has no hidden agenda either.

We have been very open we what we are doing.

The minutes of the HSE are on this site.

You just have to look at all the posts in relation to training to know there is a problem there. Even Simon Hughes at the meeting stated as much when his training centre pays more attention to detail with the candidate & company in relation to length of training & amount of experience needed. This needs to be monitored across all training centres if its working!

Development of new techniques to keep up with the ever changing guidelines, getting involved in the set up of these guidelines.

Help with training funding.

Trying to help the ECITB guys due to the way they have been treated. (This one we all know has been stretched now so I kept it short)

Help with legal aspects in relation to employee contracts & employment issues.

Help with insurance matters.

Trying to create the link between employer, employee & Industry bodies.

The above is mainly what we are doing. Anyone in scaffolding can become a member. All with have input & will be able to change the committee or be on the committee, no funny handshakes!!

I hope this helps Phil.

Regards Stewart

P.S. Yes Steve said something out of hand but the backlash was out of order. Everyone says silly things on here, after all this is a chat forum. If such a comment had appeared on the SCCR web site then string us up. The SCCR wants to work alongside the NASC, CISRS ETC."

Yes Stewart,
But the SCCR commitment to support scaffolders do not appear to match with Steves recent statements.

The commitment to support the scaffolder is from a full committee who represent its membership who have input on all matters.

If you feel that we are not going to help you no one is forcing you to join.

In fact I am surprised anyone has joined a bunch of angry scaffolders who for once have actually been bothered to get up of their own arse to spend their own money to make some sort of effect on our day to day life.

So when we are six months / one years old & have achieved a few of the goals we have set out to do then I will pay real attention to how many guys are supporting us.

Mate,

I could reply "If you do not want to join stop making such a big deal out of it!!" - about a lot of the comments on this forum about the NASC, HSE or the CISRS! - But maybe that would be too easy?

I don't see any NASC or CISRS or HSE commitee members coming on this forum and slating the SCCR!

As I've said before, not only in open threads but also via PM's to yourself - I wish you all the best! I've said that I wasn't interested in joining a 'union' and I also wasn't interested in being involved in an orginisation that has any sort of 'militant' feel about it. But these are the vibes that I am getting!

As per my PM to you a few months back - I AM interested in promoting the scaffolding industry and the best working practices - both for employers AND employee's. I have stated this many times.

I totally agree about a lot of things that you are saying mate. I've always said that the training scheme's are complete sh1te, the industry is inundated with cowboys and the whole industry is kidding itself about they way that things are done! - The NASC know that, the HSE know that, the CISRS know that - Everyone knows that - It's nothing new!

I've got no agenda on this forum. Like I said earlier, I've made over 700 posts and I'd like to think that a lot of those posts have been constructive and sincere. I'm not a little kid with a big mouth and a part 2 who thinks he knows it all. I hold a decent and responsible position with one of the biggest and most respected scaffolding contractors in the UK.

All that I am saying is that there are ways and means of going about things. In my opinion, slagging off the NASC et al is not the way to go about achieving the goals that you've stated in your (attached) post - That's all mate.

I also have a lot of ideas about the best way for our industry to move forward and improve/be taken more seriously. However, I think that I could sit here all night, so these are probably better discussed over a few beers sometime....

Again, I wish you all the best.

I am not pointing the finger at you mate. You have made good contributions to the forum.

I agree when the idea of the SCCR came about it was as I quoted from angry scaffolders.

I feel the NASC & CISRS have lost direction & there is room for another voice to help gain this direction back to help improve the industry for both employer & employee.

I feel you have a balanced view from the management side of things & would be an asset to the SCCR that is why I contacted you a while back.

We are trying very hard to progress things in a professional manner but it will take time as we are all working men with bills to pay!! As with scaffolding we are learning new things all the time.

I just feel over the last two weeks the forum & the SCCR have been abused.

Admin has spent a lot of time developing this site to help guys pass on info, look at jobs & get involved with other scaffolders with day to day issues, the SCCR has just become an extension from that & the current committee have put a lot of time & money in to try & achieve this.

I would love to have a beer to progress this chat.
