I honestly was hoping that infamous name of certain agency won't grace these pages anymore but there it is.
It was quite a debate, bit of slanging match at times but it all ended with their promise of paying and they did pay us with a slight delay of about 7 weeks...I have already placed 50 quid towards children in need at my sons local nursery and i will follow and put 50 for Poppy Appeal like i said before.
Good luck to Tim Jones -cool guy.I have learned a bit from him from our short collaboration.
But i dont feel like should be saying thank you for being paid.
I could easily dramatize the scenario:never ending wait ,xmas just round the corner,bills mounting up,no job,phone calls to someone that you feel perhaps doesnt give a ****...nobody can help it takes time before u force someone to pay....is just that you wait and wait and wait...we will keep you updated they say ,we cant pay you if they dont pay they say,always how you doing they say...well not too fu...ing great mate because its bit embarrassing to tell my missus that i am struggling to keep her and a boy afloat and why should i?
i did work and didnt slack and i had pride made it nice...
so i wont apologize and i will help the others like SF supported me,
i will post the jobs i believe are good, and i will warn the others if some kind of prick is lurking somewhere behind the online page trying to stitch some scaffolder up.do the same.do more.list good employers and even good agency.post a job if it can be direct.if u know that u can help pick a phone.post those numbers acas citizens advice bureau....and any others.and if that wont help dont just pick up 5 ft tube wanting to f..ck whole universe out of a ******* ...just continue doing your bit...

all agentcies should b banned start getting together union is the only way too many im allright jacks terrified of bosses unite and fight the games ***** f the price
work go for a decent hourly rate its virtually impossible to make money getting 120 foot 15 years ago no loading bays brikgaurds 1 handrail so by rihts 350 a foot cost of living all the extras 4 nothing is what we should b on is the game safer now with all these jobsworths id love to see the figures between 10 years ago and now is it safer or getting rediculous price work and safety dont mix hourly pay should b the norm and a decent rate pro rata to the bastards profits there taking the piss mans dic boys wages

Somthing needs to be done about these mercinarys bleeding our industry dry. As I have said before it is bad enough having to fight amongst ourselves for scraps of work without having to help support the entire recruitment industry. How on earth are unskilled, glorified salesmen better qualified to represent us, the tradesmen.
If you wanted your car fixing, you wouldn't go to a third party and pay them to find you a mechanic and the same should apply.
I have had similar problems with Robert Hurst Ltd, Nick imparticular. They sent me to a job with unqualified men doing the work of scaffolders on a building riddled with asbestos, when I objected they said I wouldn't be paid. They also said I wouldn't be paid for any previous work from the week before.
Unions are all on the pay roll! If we want to make a differance we need to boicott these agencys and organise legitamate protests ourselves!
 
As i said lets start one for ourselfs there must be someone here who can do,
 
i started wiyh an agency last week first time have worked for one money crap promised two months on a site cought up with all the work got four days why say two months knowing never gonna happen never again
 
because thats the way they are mate its away of ******* you.
you do it get it back to program they they **** you off
 
Like ive said many times on hear we need to boycott the lot of them, there just rip off merchants the games going through a bad patch as it is without these clowns ripping us off:mad:
 
was wondering how many members of the forum who put so much energy into slagging off the agencies, saying lets start agency of our own, lets set up a union and unite.

have you all actually joined the S.C.C.R

do any of you actually intend to help set up and run this agency or union

or do ya just want to shout about it and let someone else do all the graft of getting it all together.

im not agreeing or dis-agreeing with any of your comments im just curious to know who has or hasnt got the balls to match the mouth :wondering:

These things usually start out with good intentions but invariably end up with a few at the top taking the cream - and why not?

I've worked for some great company's over the years and have never once begrudged my governor driving an S Class Merc or a DB7. I wouldn't like to have to put my house up as collateral against my business, or worry about having to pay the men on the Friday because the company doesn't have enough cash available to pay them. Would you?

People talk about starting their own business and treating their men with the respect they deserve, but aren't the vast majority of scaffolding businesses started up by ex (or current) scaffolders? Did they all say the same thing when they were on the tools? I bet most of them did! Ever heard a scaffolder say "when I have my own business I'm gonna treat my men like sh1t"? I haven't - and I've met a lot of scaffolders.

There's good firms, there's bad firms. There's good, hardworking scaffolders and there are also a lot of useless, lazy scaffolders who think that the company owes them a living just for turning up. As SS75 said "do ya just want to shout about it and let someone else do all the graft of getting it all together" The problem is, most people do, then moan when it's not going their way.

All this ideological talk of starting the perfect business, where everyone is as important as everyone else and shares the spoils equally is fine. But it won't work - And it never will.

ill agree with you oldscaff.we seen it all with being **** by all kinds but at least you got your money on timee it was just the squarge
 
A fine article. I seem to recall George Orwell was a member of M16 or such like, while also been a member of the communist international. Imagine the shock to the comrades when that book came out.
