The problem with these clowns is basically they are not confident in their own ability, let alone others. All designs will have a certain plus or minus factor allowed for. The designer will go for the max. experience has taught me that if you have to deviate slighty from the drawing, a phone call to the designer explaining the problem will result in an agreed solution there and then, no need for hold ups, The drawing will be upgraded to reflect the changes. BUT YOU MUST CONSULT FIRST. There is very rarely a problem then.

Words out my mouth Brandy. I have encountered people like that all my working life and as the trend to recruit failed tradesmen to the post of safety man becomes more prevalent we will meet more who thinks if it is not exactly the same as the big picture in the book it must be wrong.

Agree AOM. they have'nt the confidence to think outside the box, common sense is not very common among that lot, If the story book is not illustrated with pictures there lost.

This sounds like a scouser who came on site, I don't know his name but he looks like derek acorah. He went on about how sleeves should only be 300mm into a bay. Another lad on site said he takes you round the town lookin at jobs without permission when you do an inspection course and pulls jobs apart from the street as part of your course.

I've met him a few times he gives me hardly any grief as he knows I know my stuff. I always make sure I am face to face with him. I have seen him at forums making it up as he goes along and loads of non scaffolding propel taking it all in.
