bought the hilti 14v today

Just checked it on Google... no way would that thing work on our jobs.. would think it would be the same offshore... its massive..lol.. I don't think many scaffs over 40 ie. been in the job a long time will entertain them...

sorry lads.. but if you can't fit a spanner in.. how can a gun fit ?? does'nt make sense.. we work round pipework and are always tight for space... I'm going to google it and have a look...

A long socket, as I said you don't put the whole machine in to the tight space. We have done loads of tight jobs with them and yes sometimes you do struggle to get them in I've even seen me loosening the sleeve first to turn the fittings away from an obstruction before cleaning them off a tube as I now hate using the spanner for anything as it's just so slow but on the whole the long slim socket will slide in on beams and it takes less circumference to turn than a spanner.

Another tip is, I hear a few moaning about the height of a handrail when using the step but this tool gives you a wee bit extra stretch which can make all the difference.

My wrist are well and truly fu cked and i have thought about getting one ,

until i heard one in action  no way i could cope with that noise all day

That is true Phil and I was surprised to see exactly how near the wire they were to needing defenders but to be honest 1 in every squad is enough.

Cala, I'm over 40 and think that is exactly who they were designed for. I wouldn't let the young team near them for a few years yet when they have finally learned to turn a spanner.

Each to his own I suppose... I just don't see the benefits myself.. and if there noisy.. no chance, can't shoot the **** if you can't hear owt... summat else to add to taking the fun out the job..

i will race any one of you homo wrench users .up or down . winner takes all . although id throw ya tool in the bin after i had definetly won , get a fooking scalextric

i wonder which keyboard warrior will mouth off this time ,ha

i know and i haven't even done a days striking yet mostly erecting but they are just the business although i couldn't get on with the big ball holder.....
for me its the dewalt holder all the way

falls out of all pouches/holders. what you need is the BIGG LUGG - CORDLESS TOOL BELT HOOK. dont last for ever though, but neither did all the pouches/holders we tried. in a gang of 4 we are now onto our 7th Impact wrench between us. we have had 6 makitas, bought 3 and then replaced under warrenty. we are now trying out the hilti on the "fleet management" deal

fantastic on beams, as AOM said once your in place pull the trigger and move on. is there anyone out there who has tried it and then gone back to the spanner. i doubt it .

Good question g-scaff, some of the concerns are justified like the noise and to be honest I didn't realise the level they were at under load and when on the beams some times the noise can travel but a mere trifle when you weigh up the benefit.

2 of us struck a shore today with over 3000 doubles in it - although alittle noisy the spanners just couldnt keep up with us and as a bonus my wrists feel great... :)

we've been using the macs for nearly 2 years with no brake downs.

alan666 have you not watched RED VIKING doing the sleeve up. he only demonstrates afterwards with the spanner to show you none believers how tight the sleeve is in such a quick time. next time im in TOON i will take you up on that race, keyboard warrior

Still use me spanner but have had the Hilti for 4 month now and i won't give it back, If I can't get my gun on the fitting I use the spanner, like u would use a flat head if u can't get your spanner on fitting. I have bad wrists and elbows but they feel loads better since using the gun. they are the future for some things. But make the young lads show they can scaff with a spanner before getting a go....

I can use my spanner as fast as anyone one and been in the game twenty years but it's people who (don't like change) who are stuck in the dark ages. With time things improve, I suppose u still use your mk1 escort van cos it's perfectly ok to get to work in no cos people buy new and move with time. Use your spanner and pull your **** out. Nobody is forcing it on u they are just saying how much easier job is with one.!!!!!

Try one then come back and tell us.

If u spun the spanner more and not drank the tea, u would know after 20years of banging and pulling the spanner when ripping jobs down.your wrists are fucked with carpel tunnel, and golfers elbow in both arms there worth it. Anyway each to there own u go put some 4 inch screws in with your Phillips screwdriver, cos having cordless is gay or cut your tube with a hacs saw and boards with a bow saw cos a re cip is gay. Anyway i need to change me battery's over good night

you can take a horse to water Gary, nothing personal once they try it they may change their opinion.

I thought the same as them aom but then had a go and not gone back arms have never felt better
