got offered a job in a oilrig construction set up in rotterdam , what you reckon would be a fair wage over there , is the cost of living high , anybody worked in north holland ???

Rotterdam is in the south west of Holland not the north, if it’s a rig yard you are going to it will be the old Botlek, now know as Keppel.
It is a busy ship/rig yard.

thanks johnny , i got my wires crossed there , its for a company called heedme , do you know of the yard , its in the north alright , and there will be work around the islands whatever he means ??

Heerema has a yard in Zwindrect , which is about 10km from Rotterdam.
They build all the modules for rigs there.
They also have a place in Vlissingen the furthest south part of Holland, here they mainly build Jackets.
I have never heard of Heerema being in the North of Holland?
Are you going there to work on the Dutch tax system?

If you will be on the Dutch tax system the readies will be very little, you will pay a lot of tax.
And that Heerema yard in Vlissingen will be freezing this time of year as it right on the coast next to the north sea. All the work in Zwijndrecht is mainly inside huge Hangers

franky if you want divorce number 3 head to holland but by the time the **** hits the fan you will be enjoying yoursel that much it will be 3 years before you realise you are single again.I love the place as do most guys who go there but its more of a busmans holiday than a banker.PM me im heading over there tomorrow

I was in Keppel Verome and was taking home £15 per hour, after tax. So I would work around that, more if you can. Just remember if you go dutch tax then you pay 33% plus then loose on the exchange back to £ from euro's.

I know this person you are talking about...he is Turkish .your readies will be there every wk but don’t expect good salary. I know he has guys offshore grafting 84 hrs a wk for 1100/1150euro take home.
You will be hammered with Dutch tax

My advice would be: Dont weigh out toi much money from your own pocket before you get a solid contract drawn up.

Never worked in Holland, but worked with a good few blokes over the years who have had their fingers burnt.
Heard alot of horror stories.

Thing is out in Holland there are no Unions Jason, so the bar stools tend to do what the fook they want. Especially to the English, it's like it or lump it.

the way it is working is , they pay digs plus 500 euros a week ! thats onshore , looks like i could be heading offshore , waiting on phonecall for either , like to stay busy , im gettin fat again lol , anyway , when this thing comes off and i hear more i will post details etc so you guys can have a punt , thanks alot lads , thats what this p[lace is for , class act really is !

Had my fingers burnt that many times i cant give prints anymore.
Travel broadens the mind.i never expect to get my last weeks wages so if i get payed out all the better its just the way of the world.best of luck to anyone willing to give it a go.
