what do you need to start your own job agency

Got to admit Orac it's getting harder ,we are being under cut with firms useing uncarded labour and clients just looking at rates,but most smart people stay clear(pay peanuts get monkeys).With all the training we give the lads to keep up to the latest regs,insuarence hikes and everyone wanting £££££££££ of credit,thats just the tip of the ice burg.All the paperwork needs doing 4 things like ISO 9001 2008.Just been working on a new company certificate which i dont think many if any in the scaffold industry have and should have it soon,al let you know as the people we are dealing with haven't a clue what we are talking about,which means to me no one else holds this.In the long run the lads will loose out if unless something is done to keep out cowboys,ye ha
 
Orac - We are signing up to the SCCR membership for agencies. We are quite happy to advise how things work and give you any information needed.

it's alright you lot slating agencies off! but there here for 1 purpose: and thats to make it easier for us scaffolders out of work looking for jobs (which is hard at the moment) Ive had a few good m8's work for them and still do and i aint heard a bad word said against them, apart from 1 to be honest lol, He didn't get paid because he was never on time and when he was on the job he basicaly did F-all, his attitude was bad! was smoking on site and and couldn't tell diffrence between a double and a single!! so in my view he didn't deserve F-all lol. any way i just think it's wrong u lot talkin bad about agencies when they get (us) scaffolders jobs when we cant find any! and for those who didnt get paid or are still w8n to get paid it aint always thee agencies fault is it? so basicaly if u don't want to work for an agencie, "SIMPLE SOLUTION FOR YOU" FFING DON'T

sorry sid, your labouring under a delusion mate. you wait till the agency doesn't have any work for you, then try and get the bloke on the phone. he's in a meeting is the reply you'll get. agencies are there to save scaffold companies money. they put the job out to 3 different agecnies and then play one off against the other by chipping away at the rates.

The eagerness of agencys to slash rates to get the job at any cost is one of the reasons the rates are so bad, that and the fact the firm can get rid of agency men at anytime without any penalties. agencies also fill their offices with young good looking birds who look good to the site agents etc, not because they know what they are doing. most of the consultants as they call themselves would sell their mother if they thought it would get the time sheet signed.

labouring under a delusion!! all im saying is that ive got a few good m8's who work 4 an agency and they aint said a bad word about them yet, and 2 of my m8's have been working 4 agencys for over 2 and half years on good money! like i said earlier there are alot of scaffolders out there who take the piss and just take the job coz they could do with a bit of extra cash! and **** about on the job. and then theres a lot (a very lot) of good working scaffolders obviously like the m8's im on about who do the work propaly so agencys are gonna go out of there way to keep them in work and always ring them back coz they can rely on the job getting done propaly. I cant recall myself talking about agencys office staff male or female basicly thats got f-all to do with it as it? And on a personal opinion some scaffolders ive worked with that have just done their part 1 card couldnt tell the difference between a transom and a ledger so theres no wonder some agencys **** some scaffolders off after a job. but yeh your right in 1 point they should get paid no matter what! but as u well no this buisness is gettin worse with thee amount of muppets coming into scaffolding now! but as far as calling all agencys ya wrong pal VERY WRONG!! there not all that bad as its proven in my eye's! :cheesy: :cheesy: :cheesy:

everyone has their own opinion & is entitled to it, i have no plans for forming a job agency i'm too busy learning more health & safety, i've seen 1st hand how much aggro there is with lads & bosses running a job agency, as most of you know i worked for SSUK for quite a while aka grum, definately one of the best job agencies around, pays well & treats you well as long as you arn't a muppet.

I just want to say thats a very good offer from Nik at Robert Hurst, I then think you will see the pit falls on both sides.

Its not all plain sailing, 8 years doing Access recruiting and let me tell you its by far one of the hardest industries to sell into....remember: your only as good as the labour you supply!!

Dont think ive seen one agency on here that advertise for non ticketed scaffs, everything is CISRS and if they did send a non ticketed scaff to site, nowdays the first thing you have to do is produce your card then you would be asked to leave,if the agency kept doing that they would soon be out of business, word goes around in there game.:eek:h:
 
sid quite simply we are talking bout the bad agencys,and of that there are many,so us all being prospective clients to these nepheriouse companys i belive we have the rite to point out the more underhand ones.check the ads on here lately mate you tell me if you belive thats a fair rate,pay for what we do???????????what we trained for?????????to me its insulting and i for one wont sit back and not voice my opinion,a job to me has always been go do your graft come home with an adequate fair pay,or maybe iv just been lucky?

slinger your spot on,shame the good agencys maybe tarred.its like as you say sid muppets coming into scaffolding,well they seem to be infiltrating the agency world even moreso.
 
Hey I ear you, I think your right but with all these other companies coming in its only going to get worse for all involved. In 2008 we used to pay ADV Scaff'S £20 an hour and now its more like £14, thats like a 30% pay cut!!

The light at the end of the tunnel is our loyal clients understand this and still pay premium rates only if the labour is approved!!

you should care what the agencies are making from your daily toil because at the end of the day somebody has just made a fortune out of you, the rate they get incorporates lodge, holiday pay, overtime, travel etc and you want to let someone else benefit from what you are entitled to the reason employers use agencies and employment companies etc is because employment laws are really hard work to implement and very costly to an employer so it is easier for them to use these companies it enables them to control the amont of labour they employ as regerds to fluctuations in the market. dont give away what you are really entitled to if you dont fight for what is yours and are prepared to give it away so lightly, think about your kids future because this is what you are giving away to these agencies you should aim higher its an expensive country we live in the wages on offer are not enough sometimes you have to make the effort
 
there jobs for agencys are to **** us for the money we should get its a busieness bollicks they take what you earn them

i think i have to agree with the lads on the exploitation of scaffolders with these agencys, yes they have to make a living themselves but we know what we are worth and should not be in a position where we have to settle for peanuts. i would be all for our own agency just don't ask me for any money as i am broke.ha ha

forefront what a load of cowboys. they promise you the earth but it never happens i know loads of lads who worked for them lol

Minstrel 0151 09055000 ask for Scott, however the work might not necessarily be on Merseyside, the last time they contacted me it was for a job on Blackfriars Bridge in London .
