When the training system first came out courses were paid for by employers. Only the best were chosen and it was a honour and privilege. I appreciate the big companies used to send employees carte balnche but certainly the smaller companies were selective.
Now the qualification is so much easier to get what with funding, the now defunct accessed route etc the industry has become overpopulated.
Same in Australia where it is even easier to get a ticket the industry there is full of people earning top dollar who would be better suited to a job in a supermarket or burger house.
East europeans who have come here have gone and got scaffolding tickets because it is so easy. Stop the training, less men available for vacancies will mean companies will start to pick and choose. The agencies will be left with the dross and should soon go out of business when the dross are not wanted.

Remember the old apprenticeships? They were sought after and if you weren't good enough to get become an apprentice electrician, plumber etc then you were destined for work as a labourer or scaffolder. Sad but true.
