UTR number

Having a nightmare down the tax office today,need a UTR number but they say I can't have one til I start work,the job won't let me start without a UTR number,any ideas lads?.
 
If you have an old cis card, just take the first 10 numbers off that card and that is your UTR number. Other than that im out, sure some one will have the answer. Maybe better tax could?
 
That's the problem,I never had a CIS,can't believe the stupidity of those down the tax office,never heard such crap.
 
Take it your british. A man trying to get to work and they wont let you. Fooking amazing. Now if you were illegally here you would be fine as.......
 
The firm should be able to start you but you would have to pay 30% tax until its sorted, and the tax people should still be able to give you a Utr number with out work strange best best ring bettertax on here they can at least advise you in which way to go mate
 
They used to,know loads who got CIS cards same day but they stopped it all,don't issue cards no more,have to apply,they gave me the form said it takes upto 6 weeks but can't send it off til I start work and put the name of the company on the form,never known such bull.
 
They gave me my utr number over the fone without a job like

Funny that I'm only down the road from there that's where I went I had fun and frolics too trust me call bettertax they will put you right matey
 
Tell the tax office you started work today , i have started people without UTR numbers before like Bobby says you just have to stop 30% tax which you get back as a rebate when you get the UTR number .
