Our client has been established for over 40 years expanding operations throughout the UK which means it now trades from over 50 strategically located operations. Its Contract Scaffolding Division is recognised as one of the UK's major suppliers of Scaffolding Services operating from locations in the north of Scotland to the south of England.

Overall Purpose

Reporting to the Senior Operations Manager, the prime responsibilities of the Branch Manager are to deliver as a minimum monthly and annual Branch budgets all within the company’s policies and procedures. Develop and maintain business contacts with key existing and potential customers in order to generate additional profitable income

Responsibilities of the Branch Manager

• To develop the business through targeting key projects and clients.
• To produce a business plan for the branch and revisit this regularly to ensure financial targets can be achieved.
• To work to all elements of the Contract Management System.
• Leadership, goal, target setting and coaching of relevant elements of the Contracts Management System for all branch staff.
• To have due regard to company safety, health, quality and environment procedures and be responsible for the health and safety of employees, customers and members of the public.
• To ensure that all employees are provided with suitable information, instructions, training and above all supervision to ensure their Health & Safety at work.
• To be aware of security, disciplinary and general housekeeping issues, reporting promptly to senior management any breaches of statutory or companies regulations to senior management.
• To ensure that a performance appraisal is carried out with each employee at least once a year.
• To review staff performance on a regular basis, and to prepare personnel training and development for all staff and hourly paid employees in the branch.
• To be commercially astute to ensure opportunities are maximised and liabilities are minimised at estimate and pre-contract stage.
• Forward planning of resources required for contracted and future works including support input for more specialist structures.
• To ensure good set up and start up for all contracts with key staff so that they are all aware of their roles, goals and targets.
• Conduct weekly branch meetings to monitor performance against targets and remedy as appropriate.
• To ensure true and accurate branch recording of weekly and monthly returns to Head Office on assets, safety procedures, risk cost control management for labour payments and revenue.
• To conduct weekly yard stock inspections and random single stock item audit of main assets.
• To conduct a specific review of individual contracts which have a significant impact upon branch’s performance.
• To conduct a weekly review of debts to ensure cash targets are achieved and problematic accounts have corrective actions identified and implemented to secure payment.
• To efficiently and effectively manage the company assets in accordance with legislation, good practice and utilisation to optimise profits.
• To ensure the Company is protected through an understanding of the Companies safety and other policies, applicable legislation and best practice for the industry.
• To analyse and review monthly trading results against forecast and action as appropriate adverse variances.
• To conduct a monthly review of performance and forecast with the Senior Operations Manager, and quarterly review or performance and forecast with Directors.

• To analyse contracts on completion to establish if revised work procedures could have achieved improved performance.
