Being an old SGB employee (granted only for 10 years in two bites) it is good to hear that sensibility has prevailed and a well established name has been revived. Apparently not without its costs though as within the past few months a number of office staff have been made redundant. The company seems to be slimming down into a cost effective working business. I would be interested to see if, going forward, the incumbent workforce take on-board the ethos of long days of productive working to build a strong and vibrant company.
 
Indeed.......did a flying shore out of b and p once. I think they should bring it back on the courses.
 
Do not expect them to be around for much longer. Pay the worst wages, work the longest hours, employ men who will take "it", use cuplok.... I know score loads of men who have just recently left. They can not compete with "real" scaffolding firms.

Once a pleasure to work for (when I was with them many moons ago), now a fookin disgrace. Not what it was.
 
They have mate.....well they didn't do it when i did my advanced 3yrs ago. I dont think they do the hanger off the wires either.
 
worked out of the kings x branch many moons ago. Great fitting the b&p tho I couldnt get on with them. missing and seized thum screws would drive ya mental.

Thumb screws what were they? I cant remember ever seeing a set with thumb screws when we subbied to Gb's. Fixing was definitely a 2 handed job in those days,
 
Ideal for splicing also, not to mention what you can do with them with thunderbolts!:cool:
 
I'm really pleased to see the name back, it seemed wrong seeing Harsco vans running around. Having said that I do think the company was in bad decline before it was bought out. From a scaffolding institution to a ***** firm that only used cuplok and only trained people to use it. Was a shame in my opinion.
 
I never worked for SGB , but spent the first 5 years of my scaffolding days using Band and Plate and DH and them fu cking awful swivels , I rate Band and plate above any other fitting for is diversity , and you only had to find a couple of bands with thumb screws that worked , in my opinion Gazeways had the best Band and plates as they where always serviced every time they went back to the yard . I have about 200 in the yard and still find situations that only they will do , and as for shear with a half moon washer they can't be beaten .

Its a windup lol. Didnt yur podger have 2 ends to it. one for plate, one for t' screw. fixing for one man , made simples.:cool:
