Hello any info would be good
I am self employed CIS system I've been self employed
For 20 years now the firm I'm working for wants to pay me
Through a company called boss projects
Supposedly this is because I can not work for them for more
Than 3 months
Boss projects take a percentage of your money for this service
About 50-60 quid a week
I worked for a company for 7 years straight and never had this problem
I ain't giving no ****** my hard earned money for nothing
Any ideas guys would be most helpful

£50/£60 a week???

Ive worked for various Agencies in my time, and they pay you via an 'umbrella company' and that is usually only £18-£20 at the very most.

This other Firm is taking the piiss, tbh mate.

Just been on Boss Projects website if its the right one, thats exactly what they do deal with companys tax. As the lads said total rip off.

Thanks guys as I remember I did invoice my old employer weekly
So that's why no problems
With present employer I have not been doing that
So a chat Tommorow is in order
Hello Jason I worked for some agencies last year and they used
Boss projects and the average they took was 30-40 quid
Plus the 20-30 the agencies took not ideal
I have learned if they employ you for so long the company is liable from the goverment
To all the tax and n.i contributions that a paye employee it liable for
So obviously the pass the financial hit onto the CIS employee
One again thanks fella's

Hi Essexscaff1

If you need any help and advice, just give us a call. That sounds awfully steep - presumably it's your stoppages of tax, NI and then their commission, but you'd have to be raking in a small fortune to be paying that much in stoppages.

There may be nothing you can do about using this company if your contractor insists, but, we'll give you any advice you may need regarding the situation.

I HIGHLY recommend BetterTax.
Very good accountants - cant ask for better ones tbh.

Helpful, honest and easy to talk to and most importantly - they KNOW our trade and what things we do and dont have to do.

(Say sorry to Steve for me not ringing him back the other day please, but my personal life has hit a slight 'bump' in the road...)

Ill be phoning over my bits and bobs for last years Tax Return on Tuesday. :)

is it true bettertax take 36% b4 you get your money, anybody help with this,as this is what i got told other day.

id thought of trying this better tax , as ive heard good things , but that size of percentage sounds a bit much

Stephen phone an independent accountant out of yellow pages who will charge you 1 to 2 hundred instead of the ridiculous amount bettertax charge.

Our fee is 30% but unfortunately the government charge VAT also. Nothing we can do about that.

i,m sorry guys and i know your a forum sponsor...... but that is absolutely rediculous, no-one minds anyone making a profit but that rate is profiteering
most accountants i know charge a fixed fee of a few hundred pounds for a normal selfemployed guy, its not that complicated
Jason fill out your own self assesment mate even at mininmum you'll get 1.5k
