Guys,
A contact of mine in Libya, is again looking for a Scaffolding Supervisor to work on a Gas plant shutdown project between around 15th January and approx April 2013.
The company is Italian and they are contracting to a client who is German.
I worked for them in 2006 and although not perfect, they wern't too bad.
The project is situated about 900 miles SW of Tripoli, deep in the desert. The camp is small and there's not much there to do in the evenings apart from a coffee bar - no alcohol (officially) - and this closes early ! South African Satelite TV was available when i was there, showing UK sport and a number of English language films, etc, including a very good German porn site if you require it (but no women sadly).
Work conditions are as follows:
7 days a week, 10 hours a day.
Flights, visas, internal travel, etc, all paid for by company, but make sure that all you expect is covered (in writing), if they do contact you.
60 days on/20 days off leave cycle.
Day rate will depend on qualifications of candidates and negotiation at the time of interview.
Job is general supervision and guidance to a group of around 20-30 Fillipino/Egyptian/Libyan Scaffolders, or it was when i was there. The Italian company do not really have much idea about scaffolding and the running of such things, but the client does, so that's the reason for employing someone.
When i was there, they had no properly kept tagging system, no logging system, no proper organisation of materials, etc, etc, etc, so i don't know whether what i put in place is still being used, or whether someone will have to re-invent it all, but i am sure things won't be as in the UK !
To be considered, you should have an Advanced Scaffolding card and also previous experience of supervision in a Petro Chemical environment. Without at least these two prerequisites, you will be wasting your time applying. Please attach copies of any certification to the CV at the time of sending.
If you are interested, forward a copy of your CV to me and i'll send it on to the Operations Manager in Italy for consideration and he will contact people that he is interested in directly.
PLEASE NOTE: I have not got time to chase backwards and forwards trying to get clear CV's together for applicants, so make sure what you send is exactly as you want it submitted and in WORD format only please.

Hi Lads
Has anyone had any information regarding this position??

As some of you know, they asked me for some more CV's and i sent on the ones that had arrived late, or had to be openable/tidied up before forwarding.
They have not contacted me since, except to thank me, so i'm afraid that i do not know what the position is with these vacancies, but i do hope that they have contacted some of you directly by now.
