sorry to hear that about the scaff, i,m working under a pier @ mo , so dunno if good idea to clip on? . my heart goes out to the family that he was part of , R.I.P. SCAFF.

Painters seem to fall off scaffold more then any craft over here in the usa.

You will find its all the other trades that are ruining ours safety wise
About 7 or 8 years ago i attended a HSE seminar, also attending was a bigwig from NASC who gave a speech about falls from height ( scaffolding) etc. i asked him 2 things.
1. How many of the deaths and injuries caused by falls from scaffolding were scaffolders?
He had no answer because there are were statistics to say what trade etc
He then went on to say about the reduction in fatalities since harnesses became compulsory. so i asked him..
2. How many accidents have been caused by scaffolders harnesses IE. tripping on their lanyard? or through lack of movement whilst wearing the harness?
He had no answer to that because there are no stats for that either.
you need to balance things up when deciding on safety measures.
