Part 1 Ex army looking for work in Lincolnshire!!!!

Hi I am a part 1 scaffolder with in date ticket and safety passport I have been scaffolding just under a year and I have recently cum out of work and am desperately looking. I I've work for harsco sgs and a few local firms but I am struggling to find more work. I have my 7.5 tonne and I am reliable and don't take sick days or slack. At the moment I've been out of work for 5-6 weeks and am running out of options. If anyone could help me or point me in the right direction I'd be grateful. I am really keen for scaffolding and intend to take it as far as I can.

Try burfex in hull mate not bad outfit allways on the look out for lads

Move to basingstoke m8 & i'll start you the next day..i take ex army on whenever i can.
If not use ur army learning credits to get ur pt2 & you may find it easier to get a start
 
What get part 2 after a year in scaffolding ? Shouldn't even have a belt on yet no offence to you but this is why our trade is getting bombarded with in experienced scaffolders.

Bit harsh midge the lad's only trying to earn a penny.
 
I know what you mean midge but tbh m8 thats the way its going now tickets first experiance later - i cant get an experianced ticket holder fur luv nor money...looks like i'm gonna av to start a trainnee all over again.then watch em fucck off when hes hwlf decent.
In my experiance every exseviceman i've ever employed has been a benifit to my company reguardless off experiance- just their mindset..
I'd give you the same offer m8 as ur stuggling for work come ondown for a start
 
Not teying to offend the lad at all phill it was more what sp said about getting part 2 far to soon under a year scaffolding its far to quick he needs to learn as a part 1 first then progress from there I wish him the very best of luck in the future but got to be honest too

Thanks for the offer I'm on the street here at the min and going back on Cottam power station end of this month so alls good but hope you find a good scaff as work is hard to find ATM and I know what you mean regarding ex army fair play there cheers SP
 
Cheers for the messages lads yah exactly I've spoke to a few lads and they say the same I wudnt do my part 2 coz I've not got enough experience yet even tho am already a part 1 av worked on jetties oil refinery bp modules so av crammed a fair bit in and am confident with as a part 1 and I can handle myself. But like you said I want loads more. I will keep it in mind about moving for work but it's a gamble with me being on my own and not in a gang. I do love this trade though and I don't fancy doing anything else I've already paid £1200 of my own money for this qual and £140 for a passport so am not wasting it.

I was based at tidworth so I know Basingstoke quite well. Wud there be digs? It's getting pretty desperate here to be fair so I think moving down south to get work
 
Get your self down south mate you will never be out of work and there's loads good lads up there what will give you all the knowlage you need I live just outside of grimsby and 90% of the time I'm away from home to earn a living grimsby area is like the stone ages for scaffolding mate.
 
Could you give me some details like digs where you are and how long you rekon I could work for you? I don't like going from 1 firm to the next I'd prefer to work with the same bunch of people because you work easier and better I rekon. But obviously am just looking for anything, even though I've got little experience am professional and reliable regardless just need the opportunity
 
I cant beleave u paid out of ur own pocket for the quals...ur army learning credits are valid for 7 years so use em or lose em.
There are plenty of places down here where you could rent a room etc..
How longs a bit of string....work is open ended.& full time employment not just a cpl of weeks.if your not workng then u got nothing to lose pal...plenty of guys relocate for work.last guy i employed off here lived in liverpool & moved down.
I think theres a definate north/ south devide @ the mo with work the trick is once u find it -keep it
 
10 years they last av got over £8,000 trouble is they will only pay for course a level 3 and above I had a nightmare trying to get the credits for it in the end I managed to use my Standard learning credits and got £500 back but that took 5 months to get. The army hasn't been any help everything takes ages to get and they want proof letters emails receipts and invoices whenever I want the money for a course they will pay for advanced and once it's done I can claim the money back but as it stands enhanced learning credits can only be used for a level 3 course or above. Well al sort sum things out make some calls and see what happens. Cheers for the help appreciate it
 
Thnk u wanna check on that had a guy last year use em for pt2 @ birtchem they provided him with a course date & proformer invoice for it and the mob payed up 2weeks before it started everything went fine ...but good luck
