offshore work??

North Sea are among the lowest paid offshore workers on this planet!

Average onshore worker doing 7 hours a day = 1680 hours a year with 4 weeks holiday and every weekend off = around 124 days off (17.8 weeks)

Average offshore worker working 3/3 = 2088 hours of work a year!!! With no holiday (No holiday pay) but 3 weeks off. You do not however get a clear 3 weeks at home due to travel so lets say it takes 6 hours extra (50 Hours). A lot more time off, at times that do not suit and long periods away from home! 172 days off work with hugely increased work hours and time away from home!

2/3 = 1776 hours work, with no holiday or pay, again 3 weeks at home and hugely extended time off. But again, still more work hours put in, and away from home 24 hours a day for 2 weeks solid.

Norway work 2 on and 4 off!!!!!!! Get paid more. Worldwide work 4 on 4 off but get around 30% more income.

Can I ask why the workers get hit but the government maintain hugely raised taxes for doing not a single thing.

THE NORTH SEA IS ABOUT TO BE KILLED OFF BY THE ESTABLISHMENT - FACT!

@ Old Scaff

I have read your posts with great interest and concur with every word…

These "new era " Amendments to the statues quo are merely the tip of the ice berg…I remember the dip in the 80's when the Basic rate dipped to £3 per Hr, Jack Tighe, Duffy and McGuvon drove the rate down…

What next I wonder, employed from Aberdeen, with no overnight stays and Travel expenses or worse Guest Workers :eek:that will work for a hand full of rice...

I would suggest that anyone doing three weekers should think very hard before doing it, it strikes me that the only thing we have in our armour is a total withdrawal of overtime of any sort, no point in talking about withdrawing labour it won`t happen so if you are asked to stay on please refuse (I know it`s not always easy) but we are being treated like sh!te at the moment.

I HAVE BEEN SAYING IT FOR YEARS
OFFSHORE USED TO BE 3-1 THE BEARS (Real Bears) revolted and got it down to
2-2.The new breed took up the mantle and pushed for holidays first it was 2 weeks then we got the full 4 as per the rest of the UK.
YET WE HAVE CUUNTS WHO SCREAM TO GET OFFSHORE BUT BEGGING FOR 3 WEEKERS.
GET THE EXTRA TIME MERCHANTS TO FECK,BUT THAY WONT GO BECAUSE UNLIKE THE THE MEN WHO FOUGHT FOR THE RIGHTS THESE CUUNTS CANT DO A FULL DAYS GRAFT NEVER MIND 3 WEEKS OF IT
THEY DO IT BECAUSE THEY ARE DRINKING TEA AND THINKING OF EXCUSES WHY THEY CANT GO OVERSIDE

@ Happy…well said Brother…I remember the Occupations of offshore Installation in the 80'z, coz I was there, where is the fighting spirit the Solidarity, long live the OILC ( out of compliance Member, unfortunately )

I really don't know where this one is going, its a whole new ball game now, it may come to the tactic of take it or leave it, perhaps there is an alternative Workforce standing in the wings, that may sound, poppycock and balderdash, however, I wold not rule anything out…

As for those who pursue enhanced remuneration at the behest of their Co-Workers, think, half a loaf is better that none…for those who have a 3x3 Ratio imposed upon then, its take it or leave it at the moment Im afraid…what to do...

There will be a ballot of all Unite offshore members, this should be interesting, I can only hope that industrial action is voted for, if sky tv and the papers are going just how many jobs are going down the swaney, and don`t think for a minute that becuase the rigs are falling apart it gaurantees your job it doesn`t .

|The posibility of 3x3 rotation is scarey. The 3x2 lads already complaining that the want the 3rd week at time and a half still. See how many feckers stay onn if it goes 2x2 and only have a week at home. I doubt they will at all.
Unfortunately its going to be time for time rotation. 3x3 personally, I think is highly unsafe. Plus what happens when you get fogged on? You can work after 21 days, thus resulting in loss time. We had no choppers early last year for 9 solid days sue to fog. Situations like these would mean 4+ weeks offshore, 1 week not being able to work so loss of money to the company due to lack of work and above all 2 weeks at home before returning for another hideous 3 week shift. Have done a few 3 weekers myself in my time and by day17, your heads at home. Not the way forward. Pluss 3x3 we are in risk of loosing holiday pay.

Unite must action this out ASAP ,,as no one out there will escape these cuts even if they have not been affected yet no one is safe form these cuts
see what the coming week brings
I will support any action that saves jobs and conditions

> After a lengthy and detailed overview of the current offshore situation from Regional Organiser Jake Molloy and with no halt on the continued changes being imposed on RMT members terms and conditions the Offshore Energy Branch of RMT agreed to submit the following resolution which will be placed before our union's Council of Executives at the March 2nd meeting.
>
>
> RMT Offshore Energy Branch calls for an industrial action ballot, for strike action; and action short of strike; to be conducted with our members who are employed with OCA member companies and covered under the OCA partnership agreement.
>
> We also submit that an immediate national campaign be put in place for all of our offshore members across all grades; to be sent a template letter to opt back in to the 48hr WTD regulation; to be sent a covering letter instructing guidance on how to raise objections to the 3-3 proposed rota changes; (using documents such as OIM guidance issued by Step Change in Safety). Guidance should also issued to members regarding taking strike action and NRB guidelines agreed with OGUK.
>
> We also call on the Partnership unions who are signatories to the OCA partnership - Unite & GMB, to unify with RMT and show a united trade union front to stop these attacks on our respective members who are covered by this agreement. We submit that solidarity is the only way of defeating this.

Nice when you have a 'Seafish' Industry set of certificates for: Sea Safety and Survival, Fire Fighting and Prevention, First Aid and Risk Assessment, though if you approach the right employer and ask nicely they will put you through all the correct training. Sometimes I think training for something else sets you up perfectly for another vocation, which is one of the reasons why there is such a grey area around driving trucks and licences. At least you won't have to worry about that offshore!

Can anyone answer me a question when working offshore when does a chargehand give you a appraisal isn't it supposed to be the focal point

If the focal point feels that the appraisal would be more accurate coming from the chargehand he can ask them to do it, if you are not happy with this then you don`t sign it and insist the focal point does it.
