Kentledge Blocks

Hi Chaps,

Here at JP towers we've introduced a new kentledge block which has a bespoke >2inch hole cast-in to house a scaffold pole.

The blocks are 750mm cubes weighing in at just under 1000kg. They're created from C35 concrete and have a chamfered edge to increase life span.

We're manufacturing from Langar in Nottingham, NG13, and can deliver UK wide. We're selling blocks in any quantity and also renting for minimum 4wk periods and maximum 100 blocks.

We also stock standard 1000kg cubes without the holes for use as ballast. We can send out 26 blocks per load of haulage.

I voted pre-cast but only really use water. They say someone could turn on the tap which might be true but who in all honesty would?

haha, exactly. Last time we just pumped 8 ton of water straight out the burn, that's river to you lot.

I voted pre-cast but only really use water. They say someone could turn on the tap which might be true but who in all honesty would?

I cant remember where I read it but I something in mind about not being allowed to use medium that was able to be lost such as water or loose filled bags of ballast.

That said I have used both. I have a tendancy to use cast in-situ to ensure the load is transfered through the braces to the block.

I will look to see if I can find the clause about water?????

The blocks are £65 each to purchase / £2p.w for rental. Interested in your thoughts on how this compares to other methods / products you've used..

I've heard the same arguments but usually find they will accept the IBC tanks if they are built into the job ie handrailed in to avoid accidental spillage.

I've use most things as counter weight in my time, but for long term jobs I have tended to use in-situ.
Used water and had it brought in by the fire brigade for a small consideration.
Used bags of gravel inside a builders bag (double bagging) held to the legs using ratchet straps.

Blocks would be a good thing for me now but most jobs are restricted for space. If I place the blocks inside the scaffold base I may be reducing the resisting moment and thus require more blocks.
