Offering a terrible rate £7.50 (part 1) and £10 max (part 2) on labour only, and stating they would be expected to drive a 7.5ton wagon to and from jobs.

Only turns the decent lads away from your Company, They see the Company as a sweat shop and steer well clear

Your statements of pay increases after the lads have "proved" themselves was only posted ,I suggest, as a face saving exercise after the flack from this forum
 
couldnt agree more mate,but the question is are the management offering this insult worth their salt,only as good as the boys you EMPLOY,and to be honest at that kind of rate....pass the bananas..

You wont find too many lads missing shifts on those rates through through drink.**** me they will be lucky to eat on those wages with the free advertising they get on this site you think they could pay the lads but no they want to go swanning around all the lancashire business partys have a look at their web site theres a link on their profile takes you to it.

Tell you what Mitchells,why dont you start the lads off on a good rate (trial basis),then if they are no good finish them.Sounds a lot better than starting them of on peanuts,then expecting them to prove themselves.What kind of ******** is that.

fraid you wouldnt pay me more than 3.50 cos a female with no experiance whos strongest muscle is not a patch on a guy who knows the job doing with just his finger tip would produce more in an hour than i could in a week

ok a bit more info for you all
this year we have funded with a little help from grants 2 guys through their part 1 with their part 2 paid and booked both of these guys worked for other local companys for 12months to 3.5 years and got nothing. plus 1 guy paid and booked on his part 1 with his part 2 to follow in aprox 9month (not Booked yet) and 1 who has done his part 1 last sept and finalising his work based evidence this month . 2 of the men have taken their hgv (19months ago) asbestos awearness training for 8 emergancy first aid for 8, SMSTS for 2 ,supervisor cisrs for 3,

As far as it goes you may not get the best rates with us but we do source and fund training pay them while they train and that gains us the respect and developes loyalty . how many of the better payers and bigger guys do that not as many as i would like

sometimes it not all about the money

there you go thats the last of my defence so all you knockers out there look at how your jobs have panned out and see if your companys have given you the same
 
Great defence....tho why fund training whilst theres so many out there already got tickets? Paid for by themselves!!!!

cos if the guys are worth it we want em to stay and if we do what we say and give them a chance to become better/more qualified they want to stay we do take lads who have tickets but adding to that pays dividends too in loyalty, quality output/erections (female embarrasing Word:embarrest:) and customer satisfaction
 
Very noble of you,but you didnt answer the question. Im not the Gestapo,and you dont have to justify anything your most successful company does. You put a job up with trainees,surely that takes longer than using the finished article..

i must be missing a bit we do get/have carded lads, where you work no trainees work in the gangs??? im puzzeld as to what you are asking:unsure:

LADS get training, get wise, leave for better money, the only lads that stay for crap wages are the ones who cant perform. the labourer at our firm get £11 an hour + 1.4 & 1.8 for overtime on the books and permanent lads get training, the temp contract lads pay for themselves out of there 800 a week take home. Tesco now pay £7 an hour employed with no humping heavy scaffold.

I was considering leaving my shelf stacking job at Tesco's to pursue a career in scaffolding.

However, after reading this thread I think I'll stick with Tesco's...
