Relocation of our Support Services office from Coventry to Glasgow provides an exciting opportunity for an ITSystems Engineer who will be responsible for the Company IT services.
To be a successful candidate you will need to deliver in respect of the following:
Mission and Purpose of Role:
Responsible for ICT within the company. Manage and deliver day to day the ICT services to the central and multisite
locations ensuring maximum availability of IT services throughout the business in a demanding user environment
covering the whole of the UK. Develop IT systems to facilitate business strategy implementation by employing state of
the art technology.
Key Objectives of the Role:
Develop and maintain a secure IT infrastructure in a local and wide area network, adopting ISO 27001/ISO 27002
where applicable.
Hardware management: 8 centralised servers and 9 remote data servers, 140 client nodes.
Network management: Knowledge of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VPN (IPSEC and PPTP), Firewall Management.
Software management: MS Server and Client Operating Systems, Causeway Connect+, Sharepoint Services 3.0, MSOffice
Suites, CASE and other applications.
Technical Support, via telephone, remote support and site visits.
Design and plan new site IT infrastructure in line with company, customer and group requirements.
Manage and maintain company IT assets.
Job Level Overview and Accountabilities:
Process-
Manage ICT service providers re hardware, software, networks in liaison with Supply Chain Manager.
Maintain systems to ensure security, disaster recovery provisions and effective user services.
Develop, maintain and implement ICT policy and data protection in liaison with QHSE Manager.
Application of new technology to give business a strategic edge.
Financial-
Operate within the appropriate budget constraints for IT services and procurement.
Plan and propose budgetary requirements for hardware and software refresh in liaison with Financial Controller.
People-
Manage and organise the tasks of a Desktop Support Technician to respond to user demands via the helpdesk system.
Effectively communicate with system users, service and equipment providers.

Skills
• Proven experience in managing a similar ICT operation. Systems planning and development for business
operations development
• Analytical thinking and problem solving skills
• A confident, ‘people’ person with effective interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) who is
able to work with all levels of staff.
• Ability to work on own initiative, manage workload, and adhere to strict deadlines.
• Able to travel extensively throughout the UK at short notice and holds a current UK Drivers Licence.
• Flexible and able to demonstrate a pro-active approach to work.
Qualifications & Training
• Good undergraduate degree (e.g. BSc) in relevant discipline is desirable.
• MCSE or MCSA desirable
• Prince 2 or ISEB Project Management is desirable
IT Management Experience
• Experience of working in a large diverse organization (multi-site experience highly desirable).
• Design, implementation and support of new technologies and systems.
• Co-ordination of a wide selection of technology suppliers and support agreements.
• Training experience.
Technical Experience
• Microsoft Windows desktop and server operating systems – Server 2003 / 2008 R2, Windows XP / Vista / 7.
• Microsoft productivity suites (Office 2003 / 2007 / 2010).
• Email & Messaging systems (Microsoft Exchange 2003 / 2010, Exchange ActiveSync and Blackberry Express).
• Web technologies (IIS & Sharepoint Services 3.0, Outlook Web Access).
• Infrastructure and Security Management – Active Directory, Group Policy, Sophos Endpoint or similar, WSUS.
• Telephony – systems and associated technologies.
• Networking, TCP/IP, DHCP, VPN, DNS, WAN, LAN, Firewall Management etc.
• Printing – Multifunction Devices, Network Scanning.
• Knowledge of HP hardware would be advantageous.
