On a new build at what height does an independent scaffold need ties in? It's 3 to 4 lifts high and all 4 sides of a house.

It sounds like your doing a foreigner mate, and to be brutally honest with the questions your asking you shouldn't be doing it on your own, even if you are 6 weeks away from being a part 2..... !

Oi its me that's 6 weeks away from being a part 2 not him that was a tongue in cheek response to cozzy in his other thread mate about weight load!!!! Read again fella

Got a call today from a builder who had put
Up his own scaffold but if I could go round and
Stop it wobbling! Laughed my arse of but couldn't
Resist going round! When I get there I told him give
Me a hundred quid and will stop the wobble! Used
His gear in the garden and put a raker on it! Should of
Seen his face! Just pleased I took the money before
I done it! He was gutted!

Of course the scaffold needs ties / rakers - just put half what you're supposed to put and you'll be alright.

He certainly was! But was a good feeling getting
One over one of these builders who seem to think
Our job is a piece of ****!

what a silly question....you never have to tie an independent scaffold.. ever.. ...

Did you get one over him,or have you lost a potential customer? In any case the time was irrelevant for your ton. Was yur knowledge, training and skill on a call out got a nice little earner. Gotta say, what sort of builder doesnt understand the basics of bracing??

Minimum base height dimension for Scaffold, (Times the smallest base dimension, usually your transom length by the given factor)

(MUST BE UNCLAD. If its netted or sheeted, I'd get some design input to be on the safe side.)

Outside 2.5 (wind)
Inside 4 (No wind)

Works for all structures, (i.e Birdcages, Independents)
