Hi Adam,

Too far for me but welcome to the forum and good luck with the search.

Hi Adam

Welcome to the forum, it will be hard getting a bend without any tickets, do you know anybody you can go with as a labourer and then obtain all the paperwork you need through this avenue

Hi Adam if you stick to the bigger company's to begin with you are more likely to get put through your courses because they usually have a department that deals with it.anyway all the best mate.

Fukk the bigger companies.
They are c.unts.

Do your own ticket.
Pay for it yourself.

Then you owe no one nothing.
Come and go as you please.
(Like i did). :)

Sorry Damo, I have to disagree with that one. Sometimes when you join a big firm you also join a big queue for ticket's. Small firms can reward hard grafters first by ability and get them going.

Not always but there is always 2 ways at looking at the same thing.

Also.

If you let a firm put you through a ticket, then your in their pocket.
Ive known loads of guys over the years, without any tickets (but ARE decent Scaffolders) who have asked their boss for a pay rise, due to the extra work they are doing.

What are they given?

A Scaffolding course, free of charge, on the condition that they dont have a pay rise and sign a 2 year 'contract' stating that they will stay on the firm and carry on grafting for fukk all - They leave in less then 2 years, they have to pay for their course themselves.

A course that the firm has a grant for anyway and gets 90% (or so ive been told) back...
Cheeky b@stards, if you ask me.

Trust me.
Its expensive, but well worth it in the long run.

The last thing you wanna be, is in a boss pocket. Especially not for a poxxy £950. :notrust:

Much how I felt myself Jason although I did get my part 1 paid I had to take it from there myself.

These so called 2 year contracts though are not worth the paper they are written on though. Under no circumstances could an employer hold you to that nor should they want too. I have long since resigned myself to the fact that my wee firm is much like Scottish football, nothing more than a conveyor belt of highly skilled and well trained young men heading off for bigger and better things.

But i bet it makes your chest puff out when the wee ******** flys the coop only to come back years later for a wee favour,or sends you a drink along from the other end of the pub

Must admit Happy, there is a sense of satisfaction when you see them doing well. So far(touch wood) I have only had one abject failure and 2 at the moment are the cream of the crop. They are finally able to go out and earn money for the firm after 4 years of struggling. They will definitely be missed when the feet start itching.
