Just been offered a apprenticeship, really looking forward to it
What do you guys love/hate about your job?
Any tips for a new starter?
What kind of wage can I expect once qualified?
Im 36 ( yeah I know its a bit late but needed out of my office job)
Always wanted a proper job ( mans work)
I workout quite a bit and play squash so strong and fit
Looking forward to hearing your views and tips

Welcome to the forum Huski. Ide stay in the office if I was you. Will take a while to get to a decent wage. Who you doing your apprentiship with. Good luck anyway.

I have been sifting my way through the site, enjoying reading it. Im doing it with astra, theyre based in manchester but come to train us barnsley boys up. I need out of office, its not good for mind or body plus only working part time at mo so used to low wage, its the future wages im aiming for, so I can wait

Welcome pal,yes 36 is very late to be starting this game, unless you're on for one of the big company's or a large job I think you'll find it's ability that gets you the descent dough,or of course, who you know, good luck anyway bud;)

Welcome to the forum - your never too old if you really are up for the challenge, best of luck.

Thanks everyone. I am a young 36 ;-) ive always been active, fit, strong and healthy. I do want a challenge mentally and physically, this seem the perfect job to do that.

Shouldnt challenge you too much mentally, physically, you be clever enough to avoid strains and pulls younger scaffs get. (Wonder how scaffolding apprentiships come about as its semi skilled.)
Times are tough at the mo. Openings hard to comeby for newbies.
Theres a few parts of the industry, site, offshore street bashing. pt 1 + assessment,pt 2, advanced. Then the worlds yur oyster.

Welcome Huskiboy you will either love it or hate it , thats the nature of the game , it can be ,dirty ,cold , exhausting but after over 30 years i still wouldnt want to do anything else.
You will meet some great characters and have some great laughs but be warned it aint for everyone.
Keep us up to date how your finding it :)
