Hey Desert Bear,

TUV third party certs have been a ball of contention with us for the last 7 years approx we have 5 year global contracts with sabic & aramco & every year they review their shems management and amend certain items, they keep instructing us to have tuv for all personnel but so far no compliance from our side,if your still interested in further details pm me for info.
cause if your in this neck of the woods you might need the get out clause.

One drawback if your on new construction -projects you got to go with the flow & get them certified but as long as you add these hidden extras to your quote you are covered.

I know the feeling. They were asking for it when I was in yanbu. Also they ask for "Aramco" approved but they don't understand that is a site specific training and should not be made out as a recognised thing like CITB for example. Quite frustrating.

When the samref shutdown was ongoing they didn't want me to inspect the scaffolds as if be "biased" towards my own company. So harsco trained 3 sabic boys on scaffolding inspection. Major no no!! They pulled everything and failed jobs I'd happily pass as there was "ply over standard gaps on a birdcage scaffold causing tripping hazards etc"

Quite frustrating

it does save a lot of greif if the top lift is flush for boards especially when there is pipework gettting pulled about nothing worse than trying to cut the spare with a hacksaw upside down between pipework
a 5 minute job takes forever;)

Yeah defo.....just an example of the things the guys would pull.

Harsco gave the guys a 1 day inspection course and the next thing they were experts pulling a jobs for stuff cos of there lack of knowledge.

Similar to what happens here in uk with anyone being able to do the "CITB basic inspection course"

not trying to criticise you Desert Bear,i know were you are coming from
A LITTLE BIT OF KNOWLEDGE IN THE WRONG HANDS CAN BE A DANGEROUS THING.
i had similar with a clients HSE man wanting rope that was tying down boards replaced,i told him it wasnt a problem we will do it but there wasnt a safety issue as the board had ply around steelwork at both ends.
I then told hin to get all his men off the job(A HANGER ON A PIPERACK ) while we lifted all the boards and put fresh rope on.
He was a Pakistani and went the colour of casper the ghost, shaat it and fecked off.Never seen much of him after that ;)
