You aren't a scaff are you? Cuplock is only made by SGB the copies are many and varied and not all poor quality but not all quality, are you sure you are selling cup lock?

Far be it for me to not agree with you, I'm afraid I don't. Trad lock and gen lock and the like fair enough but I have seen a lot of cheap nasty stuff over the last few years.

No I am not my husband is!! sorry.... THIS IS SGB CUP LOCK OK!

You have lost me there marra .... Lol is trad lok n cuplock not like hoover to vacum if ya get me or the other way round as we call it layher and most of it is but some of it scaff form and bits smash in ya eyes all the time with scaff form lol so the actuall name for sgb stuff then cuplock?

No marra it's all different and they all have different properties, they reckon gen lock is actually stronger in some respects as cup lock and easier to get a 3kn loading on a bay. That's why they couldn't bring in a standard cup, wedge or ring type system course to allow us to build the stuff and they are all separate.

alright alright but that is what happens when your selling a large amount of anything on a public forum people are going to ask questions.

I take it a cup of tea is oot the question?:embarrest:

Ort am interparating this as they look simalr are diffrent cup sizes and crnt be mixed but gen locks good someimes lol i that layer and scaff form go to gether but 1 gaffer love buying cheap and the other buys the names ...show when they both come in the yard in the mornign lol 200 quid of this 400 quid for this fekn hell just paid 20 quid for a sock for me club lol

Should be interesting when they finally send you all on a product course, which one to choose.

All the systems fit together and probably even come out the same factory but are certificated differently and by the time it comes over here it's a nightmare. I but from 1 supplier, keep it simple stupid.

Listen to this then never bene a mention of it untill few weeks ago 1 of them (the greedy 1 ) is thinking his gonna save money instead of the scaff knocking the layher up he wants to send all the lab that havent been on spanners on there layher course and send them out with it lol so should find out soon enought i it wil all go tits up when the sh1t his the fan en yans got a ticket for it na nowt alf them time its got tube in it lol as he aint got all the bits ither lol

haha, I have bad news for him you need a minimum cisrs part 1 to do the course. There are plenty of guff 2 day courses for the hammer monkeys but this isn't it.

haha, knew you would like that.

When we did ours there was a couple of lads on it that didn't have it, I think it was all the firm could rustle up on a weekends course but they were allowed to complete it but they knew they wouldn't get their card endorsed until they had their part 1. Total fekin chaos to be honest, I just got the last mans certificate in the other day despite doing it in early December.

Its it law to have it or is it a case of best practise i work with ity at this spot and have work on agensy with for trad as a trainee and is it just 1 leverl or is there gold card in system?

No gold card just trained and ticketed as per the regulation which is a legal requirement. It's still fairly new so no surprise if it is not yet completed but will need to be done this year.

All the reputable suppliers like trad/george etc will of spent thousands on getting their variation of cuplok tested and certified suitable for mixing etc.........it's the less vigilant importers you need to watch as they just see bits of metal welded together rather than the properties of the metal.

It's all in the grade of the steel, and the nasty copy stuff normally has a box section spigot whereas the real mccoy has a square spigot that has been formed from a round tube to provide a snugger fit.

Some of the stuff i've seen imported in and even scarier used amazes me....saw a copy haki tower once where the goalposts had only been spot welded onto the tubes!

Rowley,

I have yet to read any manufacturers guidelines that will give me the ok to mix in fact I would be surprised if they didn't tell you that you couldn't or shouldn't mix them.
