Offshore Scaffolder - Advanced Number of Positions: 104

Location: Offshore

Site: Undisclosed

Salary: OCA

Start Date: 06/02/2013

Number of Positions: 104

Cape is an international leader in the provision of essential non-mechanical industrial services principally to the energy and mineral resources infrastructure sectors. Our range of multi-disciplinary services includes common access systems, insulation, refractory, painting, coatings, blasting, industrial cleaning, training and assessment, which are required on an on-going basis throughout the lifecycle of downstream energy infrastructure assets. With over 19,000 people in 30 countries, Cape delivers safe, reliable and intelligent solutions both on and offshore.

An opportunity has arisen for Advanceded Scaffolders on one of our North Sea assets to support a fabric maintenence programme scheduled to run from March onward. You will be responsible for carrying out Scaffolding works in a safe, competent manner and in line with both Cape systems and the limits of your own qualification(s). You will be proactive in collecting Work Order Cards in order to maintain productivity, and shall be rigorous in ensuring that risk assessments are carried out prior to the commencement of work. Whilst reporting to your supervisor, or charge-hand you will also be responsible (in limited circumstances) for the monitoring of any junior employees such as scaffold labourers, or any Basic Scaffolders who are working within your squad.

You will hold a relevant advanced scaffold qualification, as well as BOSIET, MIST, UKOOA Medical, and have worked Offshore previously. Please note, for these positions Offshore experience is mandatory.

In return for your commitment and capability, we can offer the opportunity to work in a challenging environment with a lively team where hard work is rewarded.

Ive always fancied a go offshore, but its always prior experience needed... so how exactly do you get prior experience without actually doing it?

I can understand that they would want a core of experienced hands, but you'd think they could take some first timers, say up to 20%. That shouldnt stretch any safety concerns they might have.

Yup.
I mean how different can offshore Scaffolding be?? Hangers are Hangers, Pipe and Clamp (as they call it in Middlesboro :p) is Pipe and Clamp :D.

Unless they let new guys have a crack, sooner or later there wont be any Offshore Scaffs left.

It's alot of **** I have been paid off from cape working offshore and phoned today once I seen this they don't know who posted this.

What would the rate of pay be for this job? do you get paid when you are at home and would you make more working ad-hoc? just trying to suss out if its worthwhile me doing my survival.

I was on the bp etap at Christmas which was a day rate of 280 a day. I can't say if its worth your while I done it and won't look back. You don't get paid when your off. That's true have spanner although I spoke to mike Baxter head of hr for cape offshore and so did about 20 people that I was working with off and he said that its not been put up by anyone from cape. Hope this helps

This was on the CAPE facebook feed this morning and has gone up on their website this afternoon. As I said in my earlier post about getting offshore.

All I done was phone up the big 3 every morning until one of them give in.

I was a Part 2 with no offshore exp at the time. They've kept me busy since.

Defo apply I phoned up last year with cape with no offshore experience and they gave me a start as long as you have your basic card, bosiet, medical and mist then you have as good a chance as anybody

You put on your CV that you worked offshore in holland , they have/had no vantage card system , as far as i know , i told someone who couldnt get his first trip to do this , and within a couple of weeks he got the call.

its not ideal , but if it works ,:D

so 70 basic and 34 advanced , with experience

I am from Middlesborough and want to work offshore. However I would get bored working only 2 weeks a month. Theres nowt much work onshore to be had during my field break so does anyone know if its possible to do 14 days on one platform for one company then fly back to the beach and then do another 14 days on another platform for another company? I would only need one day off so I could get back home to sign on and shag wor lass.
Any advice appreciated.
