Well said Tony.there was a job for London the other day £11hr.taking the piss

I think that they are trying to phase out blue book all together.

Quite recently, agencies and local scaffolding firms have been advertising for scaffs with 'experience' on power stations.

Any firm can put in a price for the contracts on power stations, oil refineries, ect, providing that they have scaffs with the appropriate cards, passes, ect.

The said firms can afford to put the local labour on these courses and in the end result??

Normal wage equivalent to street work, the firms have a hefty profit and the 'blue book' is a thing of the past.

I hope I am wrong, but WATCH THIS SPACE!!

The thing with Blue Book sites is it's nice work IF you can get it!Usually it's the same useless pric-s on them,if your not in the "click"then you have no chance.Never understood how they get megabucks for doing the same(or less) as someone on an ordinary site.Be no great loss to me if Blue Book sites disappear.

I've mostly worked on blue book but times are changing and it's so hard to get on them now so many AGYS fcuking the system I always go direct on sites but I no soon that be a thing of the past...... Harsco are the worst for using the most outrageous of AGYS of all but big firms like them are following so I predict it's only going to get worse for us all......

its **** mate thankfully im on a blue book shut down myself; but i have been an sure i will be again on the town working for leaches making a living of my work

I used to do loads of blue book work and am a little disheartened if this being phased out, swings and round about's I know but you know what you like and you stick to it, street work, site work, or industrial all have the pro's on cons. It was never great money being on the cards in the last 10 years as blue book was union rate and that was toilet (one time fantastic) but the trade off was not really doing a lot in between shut's and having no fear of being laid off.

IMO this type of work is more demanding, it has to be right, first time every time, no room for error. Where as, If I go on to a building site with lads who don't know any better than "house bashing work" the **** they leave as a finished job shows you the difference in quality, knowledge and technique and the application of the aforementioned.
