Was offered work at chevron nigeria last month, after doing all the running around getting paperwork for my visa application, found out it was a scam.....
Beware boys ....
The fella worked for classyjobs consultants and was called manfred lietfeld, also clifford jacobs.
It came to light when they asked me to buy 'nigerian extpatriate travellers insurance'. I googled it first and came to this conclusion.
Shame for some dirty scammer who is just after your details to try and rob you!!!
Keep your eyes open lads for jobs that seem too good to be true!!!!
 
if anyone else has been offered any bogus jobs could they please post it up, with as much detail as possible, i will ask admin to make a sticky, this should stop any scaffolders being duped in the future.
 
cheers pk 52 for the heads up the father inlaw sent thousands to the spanish lottery scam a few years back he had already sent the money before we found out and told him it was a scam the poor bloke fell for it hook line and sinker his missus had just been diagnosed with the big c and he thought he would be able to use the lottery win for private treatment these ******* pray on the desperate and vunerable i honestly dont know how how they sleep at night
 
got a job offer by Email last year looked a bit too good to be true looked it up, Bigggggggg scam.

You can buy the insurance by sending thousands of dollars by Western Union to any branch in Port Harcourt.
Good post mate.
Remember guys if an overseas job is genuine then the employer will provide everything. if they ask for money for visas etc its a scam.
Keep your wits about you the scammers feed on people who are desperate.

3. Nigeria expatriate travelers insurance policy certificate (NETIP)
4. A scanned copy of your international passport.
5. Letter of Acceptance of Job Offer
THE NIGERIA EXPATRIATE TRAVELERS INSURANCE POLICY (NETIP) COVER is a mandatory requirement by the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) this is because the policy is proves that you are medically fit; to work in Nigeria and also it is a per-requisite to renew your resident/worker's permit every year. The NETIP should have benefits to the tune of $9,000 000.00 (NINE MILLION US DOLLARS) and the duration is one year, it should include benefits for loss of luggage, repatriations, medical, permanent disability and death etc.
The preferred insurance company by the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) is NICON INSURANCE PLC, is a Nigerian government owned insurance company located in Nigeria, so you are to look for their agent in your location. After you have applied for the NETIP policy, you will be issued a certificate. You are to send me a copy of the certificate Issued via electronically as attachment.

Attached is the Nigerian Immigration Services form, you are to go through it carefully before filling it properly.On confirmation from the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) for of the approval of your cable visa, expatriate quota resident/worker's permit, it will be forwarded to the Nigerian Embassy in your location.
You will be invited from the Nigerian Embassy in your location for a brief interview for your S.T.R visa. The form attached is in PDF format, which means you need adobe acrobat to open it.
These are the vital procedures which you must adhere to because it is in accordance to the" Expatriate Statutory Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria".

spoke to a fella at chevron this morning, he reckons that they are well aware of the problems regading fake jobs and the 'nigerian authorities' are looking into it.
 
was contacted before Christmas about work in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea. by a guy called David MacPhiefor a Recruitment Consultant with Fluor Industrial Services in Aberdeen,tried to ring and speak to the guy and emailed him and never heard nothing back what so ever..

did seem to me to be a bit on the dodgy side...but now so much more careful to who i send of my cv and certs to....
 
i know, its hard when your struggling for work. cant see the wood for the trees sometimes ;)
