Hi All

I've been out of work for the past few weeks and keep logging on to have a look at jobs advertised, also doing the job sites and trying to see if anyone knows of anything going over Christmas period.

My point is I've rang numbers and sent off CV's for jobs advertised on here and not heard anything from the CV's and the jobs I have rang have been agencies and don't have any work available.

Any one else having the same problems, Its the first time i've been out of work in 10 yrs.

This is not a dig at the site owners but more so the people that are putting these jobs up.

No what you mean there is a lot of cv collating going on and not much in the way of jobs come off and I can say mate is keep trying and good luck

were are you from have a lot of work after christmas Break and will be looking for scaffolders. no digs paid if local contact me. Peterborough area.

Russ leave me your number as we have temp roofs on churches nr lincoln stow in lindsey
and two to start nr lincoln in march onwards. but plenty of work on churches after christmas. 01733 208603 office.

yes you are right some one is taking the p_ _ _ _ i am like you can not get my head round it

we have to distinguish between jobs that are posted here by agencies and companies themselves and things that are reposted from the internet by members for no other reason than to be helpful.
lets not p*ss off the helpful members.

most of the crap adverts are very quickly identified and spoken about online so its not too difficult to spot them.
unless the ads have full details take little notice of them chances are they are an agency stockpiling cv's. If you answer these and send cv's always be careful what personnal info you put on your cv to these people as it could be used for identity theft.

sorry but it seems harder and harder to find work to a company direct instead of going through an agency at the monent i am working for an agency and having to go through some one else to get paid (umbreller) and paying 2 loots of national insurance not good

I actually enjoy Agency work sometimes.
You dont owe no one nothing, everyone knows the score - as in, you get a rate and if someone else offers a better rate, you leave to go get the better money.

Your a Mercenary, in effect i suppose.

Theres no bells, no whistles... no false promises of: "Yeah, we got mountains of work on here, mate and if you do a bit for us, we'll get you a van and you can earn nice on here!" Only to be offered flat 5 days, £110 a day with NO weekends or chance to even attempt to earn more.
You know the usual Salesman b0llocks your told on some firms you start on.

Agency: £15 an hour - no favours, no bullshiit, no loyalties - just work for them if you feel like it, or leave and go somewhere else.
Thats what i think anyway, lol.

I set a scaffolder on 3 month ago, that I advertised on here. But most agencies on here are full of it....

agencey work

you wait till 2012 i bet u see more scaffolder firms using agenices coz its easy less hassle for them and the client to fxxk you off farsko, debs, capes all use them less your friend or family

I'm not saying agencies are rubbish, I've worked for a couple and found them to be quite good, paid on time and reasonable wage. As said you know where you stand and you leave when you want so it's not all bad. Yes I know some companies use them and take the mick in having blokes on them for months and months because they lay them off for a week rather than taking them on the books after 13 weeks (I Think) but things are apparently going to be put in place to make it harder to do that according to the woman in the job centre, So we shall see.

As I also said it is nothing against the people running the forum, Its very helpful and another way of gaining useful and interesting information when needed.

My only concern as voiced above is the job adverts asking for CV's you send them off in hope of maybe getting a call for a job only to hear nothing ( So who is really taking them ? ) Also some of the jobs are agencies and you ring them minutes after they have been posted and miraculously these people have no work but give the usual "we'll take your details"

As has been stated on here numerous times, the agencies are stockpiling names and CV`S and when and if they get a scaffolder enquiry low and behold they have a few names in the hat to choose from

to be honest who the hells gonna put any decent jobs on here for a 1000 scaffolders to phone for when you would want yourself in first then your mates, then there mates not a million scaffs from all over the country that they dont even no. just my opinion but i reckon 90% of people wiill be thinking exactly the same as me. oh hang heres a number for angola...NOT haha

Where are you situated ? Asw scaffolding looking to take on several scaffs in the London area , many jobs in the pipeline call Tim on 07833756908

Do you represent an Agency 'Tim C'. Any idea on rates? will you be paying dig's? PAYE or sub-contract?

Hi Tim I am located in Lincolnshire so jobs in london are unfortunately of little use when companies continue to rely on men working without paying for accommodation.

I am prepared to travel a fair distance for work but London is a step too far.

Thanks Anyway.

However as I am on this thread I would like to say that there is a possibility of work that has arouse from this very thread, So thanks to the people running it for the opportunity. Keep up the good work chaps :)

Got a couple of months work off here with agency uk construction money was ok 9 hrs at £16 hr getting fliers most days ,no problem with money,I think you just have to be careful which ones you go for as some of them are just after names on there books.
