Theres Diddly Squat Funny About Any Company Taking Losses Like That Boys, They Can Only Result In One Thing, Good Scaffolders Getting The Bullet, No Company Can Sustain Losses On This Scale.
 
the invergordon job was fecked up by an abseiller who was put in the seat and the job went down hill when the Scaffolder running the show left because of the bams incompetence.
until multi discipline companies stop putting painters/laggers and last but not least scabseillers in charge of a job that is 75% scaffolding then huge losses will continue.the scaffolders will generally change hats if they loose the contract under the t.u.p.e agreement.
the main losses on invergordon was mostly in delivery clauses and having to get the dockside dredge for bombed gear.gear that was probably bombed on the fact that there would be the clauses,hoping to get the rig sailing sooner than later.
the only guys to loose their jobs were scffolders who spoke up about the breeches of capes procedures and safety systems,only to be left high and dry by their so called BROTHERS.
any comment i made was in jest and anyone who took it anyother way wants to lighten up.
 
i remember writin in the algeria thread that it sounded completely crazy someone even lookin for 6 guys , i think i said theyd usually get 1 maybe 2 brits , who'd run it, as for these companys and their losses , **** them , its these mutli-nationals who keep (yous , top of the tree scaffs , 84 x 7 yeah £1300 a week yeah) out of a job with their increasing dependence on slave labour to keep the profits comin, Any deluded scaffs out there thinkin theres guys all over the world gettin £1400 a week jumpin from job to job , im sorry its not happening , its slave labour in whatever country the job is in , these foreigners dont mind 8o quid a day building hangers , cause its still mega money due to the economies they are living in be it algeria, egypt,morooco,turkey or whatever , and lastly this job would have appealed to thrill seekers and single men , the money wasnt even that good.

Garry is right there have been major losses globally but i think in this case on the insulation side.
Yes there have been many cases where non-scaffold people have been employed as senior management.
In Australia people were transferred from an insulation project in Russia to manage a purely scaffolding venture. It didnt work and a new team put in place.
What i really cant understand is how the very top management can get away with posting huge losses time and time again. After all it is them,or under their control who they put into run jobs. To sack one project management team and replace with a new one would suggest that the top management made an error of judgement. However they still survive. If one of us made a small lost we would be down the road immediately let alone if we lost millions. I can vividly remember the grief I got from head office thousands of miles away when our profit dropped slightly. Just a slight drop in profit not a loss and the phone and emails didnt stop.
Big business is big business but we see time and time again the top dogs blaming and sacrificing people lower down the food chain whilst saving themselves.
 
That's him Anto, everyone I have ever met thinks the same about him !! I have been around the World working, and in 25 years I have never hated anyone as much as I hate him, I worked at a senior level with the same company as him. He got promoted through shafting a good guy in the back, the guy he shafted was an old school manager, salt of the earth !! But Craig Stephen still manages to convince people he can do the job and he still gets senior jobs !! We were looking for a manager overseas and his CV come in and it looks impressive, but I know the truth about him and half of what was on is CV was never done by him and was done by me and another lad !! He does not have a basic scaffold card, he was a yard foreman with SGB in Scotland (milk monitor) !! And he was hated there as well !! I could go on and on about him, it's ***** like him that ruin our industry.....?...

You fellas could have let us know BEFORE i made a c.unt of myself over this job!! :D

Thanks for the heads up though, hopefully this will be a big warning to others in the future who put their trust in this guy Craig.

Seems like Mr Stephens has`nt got a lot of friends on here, looks like all the things Jason has said have come home to roost.

There are a lot like him in the scaffolding game who know nothing [can talk the talk, walk the walk and lie through their ar5e] but would stab you in the back for an extra pound in their pay packet
 
Strange how this fella has not been back on here to comment about all the nasty things been said about him, has any of the scaffs tried to contact him by phone?

Following this great idea this internal audit has obviously been carried out and everything has been put on hold through no fault of his own, he was just trying to sort the job out.

If he did have a fault it is lack of communication, but he was probably told that the reasons everything was on hold could not be divulged as it could have a significant impact on the company, as shown by the share price drop today.

I may be miles wrong but i was beginning to think "ofthenorth" was "scotontour". Apologies if i am wrong.
I am sure some of the boys have tried to contact "scotontour" but maybe only had an email address and an Algerian phone number?

Wouldnt do much good as the whole management team has been replaced. cape will have kept the phone and sim card.
They couldnt afford people running up massive phone bills at their expense the way their shares are at the moment!!

This fella name rings a bell, was he ever a scaffold instructor...I’m sure I came across that name when I was in that field.
 
did someone not say he was from sgb in glasgow at some point years ago , so he came from a shower of ***** in the first place
