Rumour has it that the ASRE lads are going to be treated the same way as the ECITB lads and will now have to undergo training as the ASRE scheme does not reach the criteria of competency as laid down by the NASC, HSE, WSA etc.

That is why the CITB/CISRS had to withdraw the scheme. Its a difficult one for them as they themselves set their own thing up which didnt comply with the requirements!!
I have heard that the training for ASRE lads will be free as long as they or their companies are NASC members everyone else will have to pay.. Dont forget to put in for loss of earnings boys.

I did asre part 2 and the two week course for advanced and to be honest it's the same course except asre lasted 5 days

I'm the same, did my Part 1 (2 week course) 1994, did my Part 2 (2 week course) 1996, then done my Advanced course which was ASRE in 2006 (5 day course). I remember some lads on the course had not even done the part 1, straight into the advanced, done the course at NETA in Stockton, remember doing a Hanging scaffold, Temp roof, Flying shaw, and some other jobs all from drawings.

As I understand it you will have to do the advanced course training followed by the practical assessment if invited to do it.
Level 3 S/NVQ Practical Assessment

Until then you will only be considered competent as a basic scaffolder and you won't be allowed to do hangers, temp roofs or flying shores.

I also heard from the UK that they are planning to audit all cards issued by NETA in the past as there are doubts as to whether a lot of people actually attended.

Sounds like a load of arse to me

you dam rite!!!! you can only be concidered an advanced scaffolder if u have put up advanced work!! FIRST!! the amount of advanced men ive worked with wouldnt no wot to do with a temp cover,dropper.shaw!!.....it really pains me bkuz you can get a good rate as an advanced scaffolder..but most of them arnt actually as good as there 'ticket' sez they are!! thats why these corses aint worth a w.ank!!!!!! paper scaffs!! prove your good enuf first then b given your card

I think they only consider you an advanced scaffolder if you have attended the advanced course robmack. I dont think you actually have had to do any advanced work.
"Paper scaffs" is an excellent analogy.

no man can go and do any course as you so put it! and then go out in the big wide world and do advanced work!! they wouldnt no wot to do!! experience 1st!!! paper work 2nd!!!!

Its the same as a driving licence. You can get one but doesnt mean you can drive safely.

Where did you do the courses? Was the advanced exactly the same? Did you do a hanger, falsework, temp roof etc ?

Did my part 2 asre at neta Stockton
And my advanced at utn Wakefield did most of
The advanced jobs on my part 2 to be honest
Could do every job on the course within 3 days
But they make it last 2 weeks a load of bolloc?s if
You ask me

Strange you did most of the advanced jobs on a Part 2 ASRE. Wonder if a NETA representative can explain?
