Oil rig experance

All the rig jobs i see advertized state you must have experance offshore, it cant be that different from onshore. Would you be able to blag it on the cv.

No chance mate every time you go offshore it is recorded on your vantage card so best just phone up and try to speak to the hr lass

Where can you do the courses to get offshore? Any numbers would be a help. Or training center names...

Cheers

can you get short term contracts offshore for say 4 weeks to build up your experance.

petans for the course, its catch 22 when first try to get offshore, like others said right place right time, just say what i did,how do i get experience if you dont give me a chance, then if like me,they said can you travel tomorrow do it there and then,i think everyone has this problem to begin with good luck boys, but offshores had it,plus pay all that money out,you mite only get one trip

you can tell them u were offshore in the dutch sector , they do not to the best of my knowledge use the vantage card , they didnt use it before , i dont think they do now , im sure someone on here will know

Have different stories about offshore and rate of pay. Whats the cash like offshore? or is it simply the schedule that most people seek? Thanks

they said the job has been put on hold, they have probably picked their men, probably even started them already.

When you do the offshore safety course do they give you the heads up about life on the rigs and what you need to take. Do you work on a self employed basis on the rigs.

no they just talk about hazards and risks out there you might not have otherwise been exposed to. basic firefighting with different extinguishers and u do the famous mock helicopter ditch in the swimming pool, along with life raft boarding and that sort of crap, go on youtube and type in BOSIET. as for life on the rigs, there is none, 12 hr shifts, plenty of breaks, in your down time you either smoke in which case you spend your time in the smoke room watching crap soaps, next 2 some sweaty sock farting, or you dont and you will be queing for phones or computers, my advice find yourself a hobby, something to pass the time constuctively, there are nearly always guitars out there if you go looking, or take some books off with you, or there is the gym, which was where i spent my time.

i was offshore 17yrs add-hoc gash is right money been sh.t for loads yrs now, earn more onshore
