I have recently returned from a stint on the continent working for Olympus GMBH only to find I've been bumped on my final 2 weeks pay. I saw a post on the forum while I was over there that warned that this is not uncommon with Olympus and that they had ripped lads off in the past.

To anyone thinking of working in Germany or Holland be sure to avoid Olympus GMBH or 'Olympus Bau.'

If anybody else has been ripped off by this company could you please send a PM with your name and contact details so we can get a list together and attempt to recover the money we are rightfully owed. I don't intend to take this lying down and if I can help any other lads in the same boat I will do.

I once worked for an agency out in Holland, a lot of members of this forum probably know who i'm on about, they used to go by the company name Pheonix international, or Intecs, the guy who owned the company was John Page and they where based in County Durham. Whilst in Holland a better job came up so i left the company, the next week when i went to the bank for my money there was none, long story short i got bumped, then about 3-4 weeks later they sent me a letter which was a bill for P.P.E which they said that i never returned. Bumped for wages then a bill which i never paid the cheeky ciunts. Then a while later a friend of mine told me that it had happend to him and few others, they got together and took them to court and won the case.
 
I worked for Pheonix back in 96/97 in Holland, they never bumped me like however it happened to a few lads while i was there

Hey Gingerdog...I worked out in Belgium and Holland in 93/94 for Page International(John Page) and Pheonix Engineering(Dave Tapper). Was actually ok in Belgium with Pheonix, we were all working in the BASF chemical plant at the time,the money was ok at that time ..no w/end work though but we got o/t during the week + good dig money..It was a totally different story when we went to Grondigien Holland on a gas power station extension with Page...Fooking ripped us all right off...same thing that happened to you mate, the old PPE trick. We used the wedge double at the time so we had the wedge bag the hammer, Harnesses etc and we all got the same **** off of him, he said we did not return any of the equipment and he charged us,saying we stole the gear...joke!! but we had copies of the sign out slips from the stores on the job but that didn't matter!!. We tried to find this guy but at that time he worked out of a PO Box No in Durham...was very hard to trace him to an address, to rip his fooking head off :mad:. Yeah we lost a lot of cash because of this crook and I would be very wary about going abroad with any agency these days...only a reputable company would probably get me out there now...:suspicious:

Hi mate sorry to here about what happened.I to worked for Olympus Bau GmbH. for six weeks and was knocked for last 2 weeks.their was a group of three of us.we worked south of Germany.One of us only got paid for 2 weeks out of six.He rang me today and told me they have stopped using their number.you can contact me back anytime mate

Cheers for all the messages showing your support lads. From what I hear this is not uncommon practice for agencys in Europe and the longer they are allowed to continue the more similar storries we'll hear.

Gorrilla, could you please send me a (PM) list of the your names, contact details and the amount you think you are owed along with the names of the companies you worked for on behalf of Olympus.

I have already been in touch with the company we worked for and have demanded they issue us with a recipt or remittance proving that they have payed Olympus. I have also been in touch with my own bank and they have traced the payments made to us by Olympus to an address in Piesport, Germany.
